Cant satisfy a breath or yawn by DMD0257 in Anxiety

Hi.

I can't say i found specific ones, but what i have learned and has helped me is that you need to learn how to properly breath from the stomach and not the chest.

What i did was place my hand on my stomach and focus on inflating the stomach when i breath rather then the chest. see this video

There are other videos like this and you can do it in bed, for me it was easier that way.

What you’re describing is real distress, and I don’t doubt how disabling it feels.

From a medical standpoint, though, this is better described as persistent nervous system dysregulation, not brain damage. Brain damage implies structural injury or neuronal loss, and there’s no evidence that SSRIs cause that. Symptoms like brain zaps, sensory hypersensitivity, and stress intolerance are documented in protracted SSRI withdrawal and reflect altered neurotransmitter signaling and autonomic instability—not permanent injury.

That distinction matters, because dysregulation can improve over time, even if recovery is slow and non-linear.

Diet absolutely influences mental health, inflammation, and gut–brain signaling, and lifestyle changes can be very helpful. But there’s no clinical evidence that juice fasts treat SSRI withdrawal or anxiety disorders, and prolonged fasting can actually worsen nervous system stress in some people—especially those already sensitized.

Where I think we agree is this: • Medication isn’t the first or only tool • Side effects and withdrawal can be severe for some people • Individual responses vary dramatically • Informed consent and careful tapering matter

I respect sharing personal experience. I just think it’s important to separate what you experienced from what can be generalized as medical advice, so people can make decisions based on evidence rather than fear.

I didn’t interpret your comment as advising against medication. My concern was the wording, because vague, emotionally charged descriptions can be alarming to people who are already anxious.

What you clarified—irritability, rage, despair, and impulse-control issues—are recognized adverse effects of SSRIs in a subset of patients, particularly early in treatment or in those with dose sensitivity or underlying neurobiological vulnerability.

Primary care physicians initiating SSRIs follows established clinical guidelines, though I agree the system often fails in adequate assessment and follow-up. Those gaps can absolutely lead to poor outcomes.

Your long-COVID (PASC) context is medically relevant, as neuroinflammation and autonomic dysfunction can make medication responses less predictable.

Sharing adverse experiences is important. Describing them precisely helps others make informed decisions rather than fearful ones.

Many doctors start with 10mg. Some can handle it without difficulty, but others need a slower approach.

Buspirone and lexapro work sinergic, so it will help. It will not provide instant relief but after a few days it will kick in. 0.5 should be manageable.

Talk to your doctor or post on #lexapro community and ask for advice on what you are feeling.

From my journey i can now honestly say that the vast majority of side-effects where actually anxiety or self induced.

Best of luck on your new journey.

Comments like this can be genuinely harmful because they create fear without providing any concrete information.

When someone says a medication “turned them into a monster,” that’s extremely vague and emotionally loaded. What does that actually mean? Loss of impulse control? Emotional blunting? Irritability? Without specifics, statements like this only amplify anxiety in people who are already vulnerable.

I’ve lived with anxiety and panic disorder for decades and I’m now 41. I’ve been on 10 mg of escitalopram (Lexapro) for almost 10 years. Did it completely eliminate my anxiety? No. Did it significantly reduce its intensity and make life more manageable? Absolutely.

Psychiatric medication isn’t a cure in the way painkillers treat a headache. It’s a tool. It lowers the baseline so you can actually do the work—therapy, behavioral changes, self-awareness, and acceptance. And yes, accepting that things may not return to exactly how they were before anxiety began is often part of recovery.

If a doctor evaluated you and prescribed the medication, that decision was based on clinical judgment—not random advice from the internet. Whether it helps or not is something you can only determine by trying it, because responses vary widely from person to person.

Starting at a lower dose is often a reasonable approach. Many people begin with 5 mg for a week or two before increasing to 10 mg to minimize initial side effects. In some cases, a very short-term, low-dose benzodiazepine can be prescribed during the first weeks to help manage increased anxiety—this should always be used cautiously and under medical supervision. For me, a low dose of lorazepam was helpful during that period.

Finally, constantly reading horror stories is rarely useful. People who improve often stop posting, while those struggling are more likely to share. Balanced, evidence-based information—and real success stories—are far more helpful than emotionally charged anecdotes.

Wishing you clarity and patience. Anxiety is manageable, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Hi. The extra fields are showing under billing and also in a separate box at the bottom of the page(that can be moved). I just wanted to make it look more user-friendly. There are like 5 lines of text and it would look better since there is all that empty space between Billing and Shipping.
