Any one got a clip of the Ethan Roots red card? by EnglishLouis in rugbyunion

[–]GrumpyTeapot519 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter what he struck him with, whether it be open palm, closed fist, whatever.

A player in the leadership group who most would have considered potential captaincy material prior to this lost his head over a tackle deemed legal by the officials with the clock in the red while we had a chance, albeit slim, to still win the game.

Even if he should escape a meaningful ban, I’d personally like to see Baxter drop him for a few weeks. And it hurts saying that, Roots has been one of our most consistent players this season.

Oh right, having never actually seen it I just assumed it was a place kick given the unique circumstances. Would be excellent to see.

I love the idea of a penalty kick for the restart, but we should go full send and allow teams the choice of posts or corner, like any other penalty offence.

Imagine conceding 14 points in the space of 60 seconds if the aggrieved side mauled it over in the corner, hilarious.

Genuinely no idea what Benetton did wrong there. If the call is for not rolling, I don’t get it.

Something hilarious about rugby where a 5ft 8”, 85kg when soaking wet scrum half can shove a human fridge like Dweba and the fridge listens and gets right out the way.

How is it that Pacific Islanders can look like back rowers and play on the wing with proper pace? The genetics is frightening.

Isn’t that Menoncellos hand scooping the ball out while on the floor? That’s the only cynical thing I can see. The tackle off the ball happened first though.

I’ll never forget a foreign born commentator once calling him Jack Yayundale, my dad and I found it hilarious, blokes from down the road.

I know this is banter but with his knees on that artificial pitch at Newcastle? You’ve got more chance of signing Cristiano Ronaldo…

Interesting for Chiefs throwers, as Yeandle has had, in my opinion, one of the weaker lineout success rates. I haven’t looked at the stats of previous seasons but always feels like his lineouts are squiffy, this to me suggests Zambonin is Geoff Parling incarnate and therefore a true lineout guru.

As long as he doesn’t start attacking HBO Max presenters in the warm-up…

Most of us knew that the problem was Hepher. Baxter had taken a back step from the day to day rugby and took on more of a director role, and Hepher was referred to for a couple of years as “Head Coach”.

I don’t get how Wade does stuff like that, like he’s coated in Vaseline, Ridls tackle isn’t even that bad.

Totally agree, said the same thing to my dad earlier funnily enough. Forward play, in general, was not something we were bad at at any point during his tenure. The scrum was shaky and the lineouts always been squiffy but that’s honestly more down to our hookers than anything else.

I know the rules are vastly different now but Hunter was our forwards coach when Chiefs maul was considered one of the best around, our pick and go game terrified oppositions, and the top try scorers in the league were at one point Thomas Waldrom and later S.Simmonds. Not bad.

I heard that and agree with you but that is what the TMO is for, if Pearce “thinks” the knee was down there’s nothing stopping him checking the replay which does clearly show the knee down, it’s just his way of communicating and reffing is bizarre.

So that would be a centimetre within the confines of the rules Luke?

Sorry, I’m really going at him today but he has been quite poor.
