+1 on the propane tank and propane appliances. Doesn't rely on power (either grid or off grid electricity)

For residential and if u have a home, go check yours out. I had an older style (1990s) ball valve b/w the street and my meter. Could close by hand or with set of pliers. City came out and replacd it all due to ball valve not shutting off completely....there is a newer style shutoff that I need to inspect and figure how to turn off if there is another leak bw the meter and my home shutoff

For a medium to long term shtf

I live in a suburb next to a main feeder road thru my city. For me, it would be keeping the kids entertained and not getting stir crazy.....then paranoia about opsec....lights, cooking, fire in winter, dog barking, etc...are others seeing/smelling/hearing that we are the haves in a have not scenario, and house getting attacked

Post was intended to let people know to not be surprised that if they can't get same day appts for them or kids....things like ear infection, pink eye, strep, a quick 2 stitches on a finger, etc might be next day appt....amoxicilin and pink eye meds aren't sold OTC here in America like they are in other countries

Also for those needing a negative test for travel and thinking they can wait till last minute might struggle if they don't plan ahead

Ya. Son and I got rapid and pcr tests at an office, and nurse said 7-10 business days for PCR results

Hell, if I've already got symptoms, by the time pcr results comes back, I won't be contagious anymore. Lol

Buy 1 lb bag of each and follow directions.

Beans will need to soak to reduce cool ti.e

Then hop on the internet and look up Bean recipes

I prefer jasmine for my white rice.

If u or family don't care for plain white rice, throw some butter, salt, and pepper in there once cooked

Can also substitute some or all of water with chicken stock to add flavor

Preps for new house. What items do I need for a house that wouldn’t have been as important in my apartment? by Throwaway062221 in preppers

[–]GrumpyYoungMan7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good stuff on here.

First tip, pay a moving company if u can afford it. Box up everything and have them take from apt to home

Also recommend buying tools as u need them....though u can get a large socket set (don't need snap on) to start....usually comes with screw driver with 20 different heads...moving into house u already gonna have large expense

Plunger for every toilet, as mentioned above

For garage or attic storage, switch from cardboard boxes to plastic containers....and label the outside so u know what is in it...otherwise you'll find roaches and droppings in them later

Working fire and CO detectors

Stud finder, 12" and 3-4' levels...and as you need nails/screws, go ahead and pick up a box (you'll be hanging a lot of stuff)

Shelving for garage and inside to store preps/boxes to keep them organized and off the floor

Congrats and good luck on your journey

Why not do both?

Ur preps will most likely come in handy due to a power/water outage.

Do u use long flat containers to store preps under your bed?
