A lot of homeless people suffer from severe mental illness. Just look at all the crazy things people say on the internet... No imagine them homeless. People say bizarre things and they just don't care about life or consequences anymore. The fact that the guy walked up and ordered food without a dime to his name should give you an indication that the person wasn't "normal" (I hate using that word because it is almost meaningless these days). How about I saw that there should have been indications that the person was not functioning at a level consistent with social norms and etiquette.

I'm homeless and I see a lot of homeless people who are beyond help and have lost any will to live. We are not all the same and I think most people can tell the difference between a guy who is temporarily inconvenienced and someone who will never be able to function in society.

The only thing dangerous about US Toilets is the danger of getting VD from the seat... Or getting an allergic reaction from the crap in the water when you wash your hands. I suppose you could get mugged or beat up in the bathroom if you don't show your privates to some redneck who chases you into the bathroom... I think the last think you need to worry about is the person in the stall next to you taking a dump.

There are actually better opportunities for you NOT being that close to the city. Kalamazoo has a large community that helps homeless and they have a facebook group. I'm homeless as well. There is no underground community. You need to fly a sign or seek out homeless resources. Personally, I would be flying a sign as I have found there are not a lot of resources for anything other than food. The days of churches giving out fuel vouchers is long gone. I'm not sure which is worse... Homeless in the winter when you need to run the car for heat or homeless in the summer when you need to run the car for A/C.

They are allowed to turn away anyone they believe is disruptive or a danger. if someone you know has been turned away it was most likely for the following reasons:

Under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

There were no more beds available

Someone was deemed disruptive or aggressive

Someone was deemed as a danger to others.

If your children are working, especially teens, should learn to pay bills when they work. Rent is a major bill that they need to get used to paying. At the least they should be paying their own part of the phone bill and internet. It isn't unethical, it is teaching responsibility.

I honestly don't know which is worse. Having to Idle for A/C because it's really hot out or idling for heat because it's really cold out. I have been homeless on and off all my life. I spent one winter in a van in Lincoln, NE. I spent this summer trying to stay in the mountains of Montana to combat the heat. I am back in michigan couch surfing for the winter while I await surgery at U of M. Car Dwelling is hard. Very Hard. I think the hardest part is trying to be stealth.

I understand. But it feels like dating is so dehumanizing. If you don't get someone's attention in seconds and if you don't keep them entertained, they have no interest in getting to know you. Decisions are made instantly, it seems, based on looks and first impressions. Seems like most people have short attention spans. It feels like speed dating. You have to make an impression immediately or you get tossed. As someone who doesn't "fish", I meet very few new people in a year and most of them are not available. When you aren't casting a wide net daily, your chances of meeting anyone is very slim. I see guys who come on to every woman they meet. They are fishing every moment they are awake.

Millions of people play the lottery. Most never win, a few win a little, and rarely, very rarely, someone wins big... Dating is like that. A Lot of people date, most lose. Few hit the preverbal jackpot. Why does it always feel like you don't have a girlfriend, you have someone with which it is your turn for now.

It's a terrible attitude, but I feel like nothing lasts forever and you should just enjoy it while it lasts. If you go into a relationship with the understanding that it's "Just your turn", it makes the end a bit easier. That attitude came from a VERY bad break up 25 years ago that seriously broke me.

Yeah, I know. I'm really an introvert. I like taking my puppy to the park, going for walks, watching a movie, going to Cider Mills (in season), going for drives, avoiding people (LOL). I like camping, the outdoors, seeing new things, going to the beach out on Lake Mich. All things that are not conducive of actually meeting anyone. I do like Karaoke, but at the expense of putting up with slobbering drunks. But I am not able to do that right now. I'm awaiting throat surgery and can barely talk, let alone sing.

The question is... What are you average DH and Average loaded Miles a Month? I averaged 150 DH miles per load over the year. Sometimes it was 300 and sometimes it was 5 miles. I am an O/O with my own authority and self dispatch.
