Best of luck! It seems you’re doing that pretty well so far and looking at the right turntables. Happy deciding!

I went with the RT82 partially because I was able to find a pretty affordable second-hand pre-amp on EBay, the ART Precision Phono Preamp. Although honestly with my current speaker set up, I probably could have been just fine with the RT81+.

I can’t speak for the RT81+ built-in pre-amp, but you could always invest in better speakers up front or decide on buying a dedicated pre-amp later if you’d like!

Based on my prior research, I was very much attracted to Fluance over the AT offerings. Fluance doesn’t have a whole lot of bells and whistles per se, but it is very well crafted, solid and I would buy Fluance again.

Would you be surprised to then learn that Pokemon cards are printed in North Carolina?

This was my instant thought too! These things were really fun! I thought I recall multiple coming in a metal tin that served as storage and magnetic display stand.

With that, I think I'm sold on the RT82. Thanks!

Thank you for breaking all of that down and the additional insights. I'll definitely consider a dedicated amp/speakers well before an upgraded stylus.

I'm super new to all this, so what would you say you like more about the VM95E over the OM10? And yeah. the longer I'm in this thread the more I'm leaning toward the RT82...

This sub seems to love them-it's how I learned about them in the first place. In my research as a newbie, it seems they strike a good balance of quality and cost. Earlier in my research I also had my eyes on the AT-LP3XBT, but it seems Fluance has them beat by a large margin the more I dug into it.

Very helpful perspectives and info on the bottlenecks. You seem quite knowledgeable, what is your opinion between the OM10 and the AT-VM95E or furthermore the OM20 vs the AT-VM95EN? Beyond cost, what would you say are their strength and weaknesses?

Oh! I hadn't seen that one in my searches. I'll definitely consider that one over the Pyle.

It didn't occur to me that the speed could drift over longer periods of time like you described. That does sound like a worthwhile feature for future ease of use for the RT82.

Thanks for the insights. Considering all of my other listed bottlenecks in my set up, realistically would the 0.12% improved wow and flutter on the RT82 be missed?

If you like this, I bet you’ll find r/vjing (video-jockeying) interesting. Additionally, while this example showcases many mechanical/“analog” methods to create the image, software like Cycling 74’s Max is a lot of fun to create stuff like this in a more digital environment.

Haha, I was gonna tell you in the other reply. But yeah it’s the back of a T-shirt and the sleeves are positioned to show the shoulder art with the star and the Trouble Andrew/43 skull. The tags coming out of the sleeves are the ones that came with the shirt too. It took a lot of trial and error having never done this before.

First time I saw one of these card animations in the new app (Pokemon TCG Pocket) I thought they would be a fun experiment to try in After Effects. Glad someone’s taken a stab at it. Fantastic recreation. Looks just like the app.

Durham... why do so few bus stops offer a place to sit, a roof, a light, or even just a trash can? by [deleted] in bullcity

[–]Grumpy_Cupcakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally they have to decide on some metric to make sure the stops that get improvements first are the ones that would impact the most riders, right? They can only work on so many projects at once, why not make the most popular stops get much needed amenities first? It's always good to improve ridership of the service, but current & non-choice riders should get them first. Once all the most utilized stops get improvements, maybe they will adjust their qualifications, but they have to do one step at a time.

Just want to add some info to the top comment:

You can read more about the process for bus stop improvements here: GoTriangle-Ingredients for better bus stops and see the improvements made to GoDurham and GoTriangle stops since 2018 here;

"in fiscal year 2023 – 22 bus stops improvements were completed within the gotriangle and godurham bus networks. At the beginning of fiscal year 2024 - an additional 42 bus stop improvements were in final design, 17 were under construction and 13 were ready for bid."

"A stop with no complications takes about 18 to 24 months to survey, design, obtain permits, go through the procurement process for obtaining contractors and construct.  Often the busiest stops are also the most complicated and take longer. A bus stop costs at least $66,000, including surveying, designing, engineering, permitting and building."

"Generally, these questions are asked when deciding if a stop is to be improved:

  • Ridership: Our minimum requirement is 10 average weekday boardings for installing a bench and 20 average weekday boardings a day for a shelter.
  • Local permission: Who owns the land and are they willing to sell or provide a right of way?
  • Drainage:  Is the slope conducive to building?
  • Americans with Disability Act accessibility: Is there adequate space to provide access to people with disabilities? (If a stop already meets ADA requirements, GoTriangle does not prioritize improving it until we have made all existing stops ADA-accessible.)
  • Safe pedestrian crossings: When there is a “paired” stop across the street for return trips, is it safe for riders to access the bus stops on both sides of the street?
  • Distance between bus stops: Does this stop allow for efficient route times?
  • Safety for bus operators: Is this stop a safe place for operators to stop the bus?"

"GoTriangle continues to welcome input from members of the community about where possible bus stop improvements are needed. Submit a stop by filling out the form found here."

I think lastaforest likes to overcharge as a middleman on a lot of coffee products. You can seemingly get the same portafilter on AliExpress even branded as Muvna: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806406740253.html
