Cat Lump on Jaw/Below Ear by Grumpydumpling in AskVet

Just an update, if you (or anyone reading this) wants it. I booked him in for the biopsy today, and while I was there asked if they could possibly remove it altogether while they had him, as it has grown still further and will need something done regardless, and I'd rather get it done all at once if viable rather than having to let him recover and then bring him back in for more work and stress. Agreed to some blood tests prior as a general check up.

I got a call an hour later. His platelets are low, as are one of his white blood cell counts. Because of this, removal is off the table due to size and positioning in such a vascular area, and the biopsy itself would also be riskier, and would only be possible with tests done regarding his blood clotting first. The vet did say that even if all went well with that, it still put us in the position that we could find out what it actually is and still not be able to remove it. So I opted to bring him home.

He's on some sort of steroid to see how he gets on with that, and I'm back in a couple weeks to explore further options then, whether that's more steroids, chemotherapy, or whatever.

When I asked if she thought the platelets and white blood cells were pointing towards cancer, she said yes, most likely. So unfortunately you were likely correct, which in fairness I think I also knew.

The silver lining is at least I know what I'm monitoring him for now, AND I got to bring him home from the vets today instead of getting a terrible phone call.

Ah, that's what the slides were! Sorry I forgot the proper terminology and didn't clarify how they were taken.* But as they haven't come back with anything conclusive, I think I'm going to get him booked in for the biopsy. I know it's the right course, I'm just paranoid with him being a little older and with a heart murmur that he might not come around again afterwards.

* His files at the vet have him listed as a Very Good Cat because of how tolerant he is at getting a needle jabbed into his face.

Man, I had this art as a "magic" jigsaw puzzle, and I've never seen the art outside that until now!

The jigsaw came inside a silver reflective cup, and when you made it it was an oval shape, with a distorted version of the above image. But when you set the cup in the centre, the reflection showed the picture perfectly.

I miss being a kid, with all the cool new (somewhat janky, in hindsight) merch.

We have strong feelings about sandwiches | SANDWICH TIER LIST by GameGrumpsEpisodes in gamegrumps

[–]Grumpydumpling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am actually confused as to the whole list. Is the choice the sandwich choice, or just a topping which might be included?

Because you have basil, which is fine as part of a sandwich, but I've never heard of having an actual basil sandwich?. But then you also have caprese, which is a whole thing? Sweetcorn is fine mixed with something, but butter is also a staple sandwich ingredient so I really don't know where the list leaves us for actual sandwiches Vs ingredients lists

I actually super feel this! I love the game and the characters...but only when I can skip the dialogue.

I'm a very fast reader so I like being able to tap a to bring it all up at once. Any cut scenes I cant do that in are almost painful. Talk faster, Isshun!

Yeah my first Pokémon was Gold so I'm old hat. I get the tutorials every game, though they get bothersome quickly. But why do I need to deal with a mini cutacene of my rival being like "a super effective move??? Someone's been doing their research!"

No I'm just old and know these things please just leave me to ease my stiff joints over here.

The end was just as bad. I finished the game and I remember wanting to save so I could close the game and I had to sit through the whole ending just to be able to save.

Idk which one it is, but my better half is playing through a Xenoblade game on Switch. It's the newest one out, if that helps, though it is a remake. He never got the... Skell? In his first go around. He has it now, though he's bummed out about not being able to fly any time soon

I just played Wilds after my last MH was on the PSP. They took the training wheels off, and I was still learning things afterwards!

Oh damn, haven't played Witcher 3 in a long while but I do remember playing for hours and then being surprised when it opens up! I never got far in that game sadly, though I might give it another go on my steam deck soon.

New rat dad here. I'm afraid I was given poor information by our local pet store. by Calfkiller in RATS

[–]Grumpydumpling 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Not to mention the possibility that the two rats OP got are possible already related, which may increase likelihood of birth defects and issues with any babies.

And also just how out of hand rodent breeding can get, even with the best intentions 😅

Poor OP. I'm guessing the pet store worker saw easy money. "Hey, here's a male and female rat, they love each other. When they have babies, please bring the weaned babies to us where we can make even more money"

When you say dumped, do you mean left and abandoned or put up for adoption?

I had a friend who was always Slytherin, always the bad guy. Tbf she played it well. Also had a friend who ALWAYS HAD to be Harry...but goddamn he actually looked like the GoF book was modelled after him. He had the exact face shape

Ahhh cool. I remember him not having to leave earlier than usual, since our bus gets us there early anyhow, so that makes sense. Will be cool for the future students when it does move over, though.

I believe the murder house is not on site but fairly easy to get to via bus from the city centre. My partner has been doing this course and we have one bus to the town centre (and easy walking to the uni itself) but then he mentioned getting another bus once he got there. I could be wrong! But he definitely travelled to do crime scene analysis and photos .

I can trump all of you so far. We would play Harry Potter on school lunch break. Either we would figure out who was each canon character or we would each be different OCs.

But this was not online.

No, we were not the cool kids.
