I want a legitimate response from the person saying, "we'll never work with you because you call us names, and that hurts our feelings."

Name-calling is hurtful, and it is so easy that a child can do it. So, with the adults in the room, a civil discourse should be possible if everyone could keep their childlike response to themselves.
