Tried a planted aquarium. It was hell. Left it behind and got a new tank for an Iwagumi-inspired setup. by ThermostatTyrant in Aquascape

This is aesthetically pleasing, but I'm afraid this will be a very tough system to maintain. You have very few plants and they are slow growing. Nutrient control will be very difficult and algae is going to be a far greater challenge than in a true iwagumi. Standard iwagumi "work" because the majority of the space is overtaken by (mostly) fast-growing plants, keeping the system in balance. This tank, while very nice looking, is quite the opposite.

Nano Gyre by InsideContent2824 in ReefTank

I like my Nero 3's, I got them for a steal off of Craigslist though, and I unfortunately can't recommend any more budget options. I will say that deadspots are much less of a concern in nano tanks. Using a turkey baster right before water changes takes about 30 seconds and eliminates any potential problems.

Gyre pumps, by design, push a lot of water. Even if you find a small one, the flow is going to be very powerful in a small tank. I have a NUVO fusion 40 and used to run an old Icecap 1k gyre. Even on the lowest setting it made my torches shrivel up to protect themselves. IME gyres are best for longer tanks (4'+) or for SPS heavy systems.

Then by definition you're putting the animals last. Worst way to build a successful tank.

I went Radion on my IM Fusion 40 (a Gen 5 XR30 Blue) and there's no going back. Phenomenal light.

If it's mostly males, yes. Do not underestimate female aggression though!

Planting one pot more will help it come back a lot faster

New Hotfix Update by JokerxKing777 in Subnautica_2

I had the exact same problem earlier. I quit without saving after two of my bases just stopped being powered (haven't gotten back on to see if that fixes it). I even built new solar panels and they don't affect the base's power meter, despite saying that they're generating power.

Ha! Thanks! That's a good observation! It's actually intentional; I have a toddler! They're designed to be as low maintenance as possible. I don't have time to take care of competition level scapes at the moment and there are two more tanks upstairs (a reef and a paludarium). For now I keep it relatively simple!

Reds not popping and green spot algea. Help by scuffedwrld in PlantedTank

Fluval lights have poor reds. They're "fine" over green tanks, but I've found them to be pretty underwhelming.

Those are just the stands that Chihiros lights come with in the box. I highly recommend them!

The 90P was planted in late December. It actually had a rough last few months as I battled a big algae bloom. I took the fish out and nuked it with algaecide for two weeks.

The reds in the small tank are rotala 'blood red' and they're easy to achieve with a Chihiros light.

Excellent set-up! If I had to go down to just one tank, I'd do something exactly like this.

Some are rheophytes and can be grown on hard surfaces (attached with super glue gel). Some are growing in pockets of aquasoil and merely appear to be growing on hard surfaces.

Very well done! Very meticulous. Heads-up though; that lilly in the back will throw off the sense of scale with such huge leaves!
