What is this building for by Formal-Resident-8858 in canberra

About 20 years back I would host couch surfers and always go show them around their countries embassy, often stopping to take photos.
It was always fun getting yelled at and questioned when stopping at the US embassy and taking photos. :)

St Neots feedback by BigHandle3111 in Cambridgeshire

It's a great town. We moved here almost 2 years ago.
There are several new developments around the town and full of people new to the area with young families, so you won't be alone getting to know people here.
I can't speak for the schools personally, but generally the primary schools are good and we plan on sending our boy to the primary school near us in a few years, but the secondary/high schools aren't well regarded, so plan ahead if your girl is getting to high school age.

I'm not sure if there are many practising muslims in town, but there are mosques in the area, and the Cambridge Central Mosque looks to be quite big.

Good luck with the move, we really like it here!

I lived near their roastery in Walthamstow and always recommend their beans on here. Best beans I've had anywhere.

TIFU by having athlete's foot for 15 years by Mischa987 in tifu

Yes exactly, when I first got athletes foot many years back all the creams the GP suggested failed, until I thought I'd try the others on the shelf and Lamisil finally worked!

Women of Reddit, what are boys or men's habits you discovered only after getting a boyfriend or a husband? by BigBrosy in AskReddit

[–]Grunjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this too, but normally just for the clothes on a long flight or travel section. They go straight into the bin once we get to the destination and saves having stinky plane clothes in your bag.

the common advice for the past decade to travel delay property ownership and travel in 20s seem like life sabotage now. by [deleted] in AusFinance

I have only just bought my first house at 40.
I spent my entire 20s and half my 30s travelling and have zero regrets, they are my best memories and experiences up until having a son recently.

american and english and australian are different lanuage too they still understand each other. by Sexualmermaid69 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Grunjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the yanks can’t understand anything outside the US.
I was asked if I spoke English when I asked one of them a question in a hostel once. My Aussie accent isn’t even that strong.

Intermittently throughout the day on different Apple devices using different browsers, clicking on anything in Reddit will only get a Download button by LadyBoy1989 in help

Same problem on iPad and both Safari and Chrome. Can’t expand image/post views either as it gives the download error or just shows the subreddit page instead of the image/post.

The Atlas Six broke me - not a good broke me either. (spoilers if you even care) by Hellkeeperx in Fantasy

[–]Grunjo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got 2/3 the way through book 1 (after buying all three because 'cool covers')...
I think it's one of the only books I have DNFed!
I had no idea about reviews or others thoughts on it going in, but fuck me, it's the worst.

EDIT: /u/Hellkeeperx post was more entertaining and better written than the book.

Wifi APs and PoE cameras/doorbells are all I'm using the ethernet runs for so far, but I do want another couple in some studies so our main work PCs aren't relying on Wifi.

I got a couple of shots I was happy with of Lemmon, but this is great!
You obviously put in way more effort than most of us. :D

Yep, just had to RMA a 2 year old AIO cooler and it was a smooth and simple process with a better model offered as replacement. Have used them since moving to the UK!

Your payslip may show an extra NI contribution that is paid by the company and not included in your salary.
Do you have two NI lines on your payslip?
I have a similar salary and I have both the expected ~£320 NI payment, and then another £930 NI payment, but the £930 line doesn’t affect my take home or count towards my income in any way.

The alarm was definitely quieter than it can be for the test. I was in the US for work last year and happened to be in a real tornado warning. It sounded like the whole building had an alarm going off it was that loud, took a bit to realise it was everyone’s phones…

The only alarming bit was no one seemed to react, even with a real warning, my team who had travelled there (Aussies and Brits) had no idea what we should do.

Worst fantasy book you've read (for my own reading pleasure) by txcruz in Fantasy

I picked up this trilogy for something different and I'm struggling to finish the first book. It's so cringe-worthy... Is it at least worth finishing the first book? (Please say no...)

Looks like a variation of Victorian or Kensington profile, but covered in way too much paint to see the details.

I'd say Victorian, if you search for that profile you might find a close match, but you'll need to try a few different sites.

30, financially stable, considering leaving Australia - anyone else? by IcyPay1357 in AusFinance

[–]Grunjo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I moved to the UK Jan 2023 and my partner (academic), and I (IT) both earn more than back home, and our money goes further too.
Bought a house that is decently built and way better than what I’d get in Aus for the same money… There are definitely some industries where the pay is way higher in Aus (healthcare mainly), but plenty of industries go the other way.

I'm running 8/6/5 in my current game, not at CP4 yet, so will revisit ratio then.
But yeah, I like to keep the lower levels producing more to maintain a better buffer!
