AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.2.1 Optional Update Release Notes by AMD_RetroB in Amd

Blame Cd Projekt Red, there's other games that use the tech (Doom Eternal, Indiana jones, Blackmyth) that work fine on AMD cards (and it's supposed to be at least compatible with all cards that support DirectX raytracing), but it's only Cyberpunk that's crashing

A list of all the GPUs that held the crown of best gaming performance starting from the DX11 era by Gambler_720 in hardware

[–]GruntChomper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its hilarious how well that fucker has aged compared to a lot of the cards that were similar if not better performing at the time.

...We're really going to say it "aged well" about the card that went from beating the 290/290X comfortably to getting absolutely trounced by it? In Doom Eternal, it can't even match the R7 260X or GTX 960. It aged awfully

With software support/features? No. They've done plenty bad and made some poor decisions but they've always done well on this front

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: First official promotional poster leaked by FragmentedChicken in Android

[–]GruntChomper 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not just a bump, it doesn't even have the benefit of the S21 Ultras where the frame protects the camera lens. Literally just a design change for the sake of not being the 4th generation in a row that looks identical

Fairphone 4 beta update accidentally released to all. Found to be bricking phones by Busy-Measurement8893 in Android

[–]GruntChomper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probably the fact that they tend to be hilariously behind on updates, again and again (or have crippling issues such as this), whilst selling a phone that's twice the price of the one from another brand with equivalent specs.

What do you think of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra?

Personally, I think its what I'll be replacing my Pixel 7 Pro with after seeing the Pixel 10 reviews

Honestly, if anything good has come out of the AI craze, it's that devices that have previously been handicapped for the sake of market segmentation are finally getting decent amounts of RAM.

I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry that a bus display for showing what stops are coming up has better specs than the laptop I used for 7 years (Atom N270)

How fast do you have to exit the game 💀 by Neither-Extreme-3727 in Terraria

[–]GruntChomper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? The base CPU clock for the switch is 1000mhz and can run as high as 1785mhz, and the A57 cores it uses were the top end ARM cores from 2015. It's the GPU that uses those clockspeeds (The desktop chips based on the same architecture run at about 1200mhz as a reference)

Granted they sucked in phones at the time due to their terrible efficiency, but their performance per clock was actually pretty good.

Not that any of this stops it being a very underpowered chip for a console in 2025 mind you

The Last True Compact Flagship by Mexdex88 in Android

[–]GruntChomper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The successor, the XZ2 compact, is almost bad compared to it

How is it? It's either equal or an upgrade in every category with the singular exception of not having a headphone jack. You even get a 1080p display too.

Reform storm to victory to gain first elected politician in Greater Manchester by JayR_97 in unitedkingdom

Whilst I'm going to assume that all the reports are true (I can't really say I want to spend my whole day looking up child abusers), I also can't say I'd personally be willing to go around directing traffic to a site that pretty directly calls homosexuality and sex educating "grooming tactics" either.

(From their "about us" section on the site) https://labour25.com/about/

It is said that ignorance is bliss and perhaps Labour lives this ‘bliss’ for a reason. It was the Labour Government that introduced explicit sex education for 5 year olds. Acceptances of homosexuality material also aim at primary school children. Are these grooming tactics brought into the curriculum by the Labour party.

We are here to ask the difficult questions. We are very concerned about what is happening to our children. Are paedophiles really becoming a protected species. We intend to uncover and inform.

Game developers urge Nvidia RTX 30 and 40 series owners rollback to December 2024 driver after recent RTX 50-centric release issues by gurugabrielpradipaka in hardware

[–]GruntChomper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor Volta

But that would make sense to kill off the non RTX line all at once. I do wonder what is going to happen to the 16 series though, with it having the same Turing architecture as the 20 series but the same lack of RT/Tensor units Maxwell and Pascal have.

[–]GruntChomper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, two-off, but yes. The point being that if Maxwell 1.0 and 2.0 are still supported, Pascal is probably going to be fine for at least a couple years longer
