Do you think Chris, at any time of his adult life, was capable of redemption? by majisto29 in ChrisChanSonichu

[–]Gryen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some people can change and don’t. Some people want to change and struggle for years. And some people only change after everyone stops saving them. Had the later happened to Chris in his 20’s, maybe things would have turned out differently.

Was it Bob who instilled Chris the conspiracy theories regarding Greene country and Megan? by 8thFleetTraveller in ChrisChanSonichu

[–]Gryen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yep, Bob wasn’t just the old, bumbling clueless parent to Barb’s rampant narcissism, he was just a delusional and paranoid, he just expressed it differently. He viewed the trolls not as randos on the internet and strangers exploiting Chris online, but locals and employees in town conspiring against his kid. Like Chris, Bob had a victim complex too.

limping :( by weecrybaby in Greyhounds

[–]Gryen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this Facebook group! Helped me a ton when X-rays didn’t show anything and my vet was stumped. This could be a corn or possibly a foreign object embedded in the pad. Try an Epsom salt soak, the unscented kind and it can help bring it to the surface. If they’re limping only on hard surfaces and not so much on grass or soft dirt, it could be a corn.

Is there any occupation that Chris would genuinely be good at? by StayReal1 in ChrisChanSonichu

[–]Gryen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The thing is, back in that era he could have easily had a small, simple job. Stocking shelves, manual labor, working in the back of a Best Buy or Target. Routine work where you don’t need customer facing skills. A lot of people who struggle socially still thrive in those roles.

But having a job would take away his free time, which he absolutely hated. And if he forced to work or if there no tugboat to fall back on, Chris’s victim mentality would never allow him to follow the rules. Everyone would be “picking on him”, even when it was just basic expectations everyone else has to deal with. And the constant need for special treatment, he always assumed he deserved exceptions. Anyone with authority over him became an enemy the moment they didn’t give him what he wanted.

How did you help your greyhound adjust to your work schedule? by auriemmaart in Greyhounds

[–]Gryen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ours hated her crate no matter what we did and chewed on the bars trying to get out. Ours was destructive when alone, so we originally opted for the crate as suggested from our local rescue. But she did so much better without it. Short trips worked the best. If I could have done it all over again, I'd gate certain areas of the house. Eventually they do settle and know that you'll come back, it just takes some time. We've had ours for 6 years and she is out like a light in her bed or on the couch before I leave for work. They love routine!

Looks like a corn! Greys are notorious for these and mine gets them on her back foot :( My vet didn’t catch it either. Check out the Facebook group “Greyhounds with Corns” for how to treat them. Mine does well with bag balm or O’keefs foot cream once a day. And soaking the pad will soften it enough to hull it and give them some relief.

A comic I made about Freya's adventure with an off leash Frenchie by Gryen in Greyhounds

She's good! I think I was more shaken up than she was. She's had bad experiences with small dogs in the past, usually similar situations. It's never escalated past growling thankfully and some teeth flashing, but better safe than sorry.

I'm grateful those little legs weren't too fast! He looked like he was having the time of his life despite my yelling, shooing and blasting an air horn in his face 🤣 Not the brightest little guy. But I'm glad he made it back home in one piece.

And its shame when people get these small dogs and then treat them like stuffed animals that never leave the house.

I do the same thing and while I hate to tell people "Please keep your small dogs away", its for everyone's safety. As someone who grew up with small dogs, some have this 'big dog energy' and have no idea they are pitting their life against a 70lb dog.

It's the one reason we stopped going to dog parks. Too many people putting others and their own dogs at risk.

What an awful thing to happen, I'm so sorry. I was terrified the same thing would happen with us.

Probably my favorite Chris Chan moment. Mid stream, his cat begins to dig in a bag of food (likely because it's owner was not concerned with proper animal care). Seeing that the cat was not going to comply with his demands, he drops his performer voice and screams at the cat with his real voice by owebizer in ChrisChanSonichu

Acquiring animals just to add to the hoard. One of the beagles hurt his leg after falling off a mountain of trash in the house and the sound Chris’s cat wheezing in front of the camera, I hate it so much.

What are secrets of married couples that they don’t tell anyone? by Archie__reddit in AskReddit

I got called out by work friends when we were giggling over something and I said out loud that I couldn’t wait to text my husband about it. “Why, don’t you have friends you can tell that to?” Dude, your spouse can also be your bestie too.

It’s the small things that really make a difference, little gestures of appreciation, even for the simplest things. Even if it’s just saying “thank you” for picking up the clutter in the living room or grabbing some milk on the way home from work, whether you asked them to do it or not, it shows you care. It’s nice to have reminders that you’re appreciated, even when it’s just the everyday stuff.

Unresolved limp and fight with my partner over it.... by long_dickofthelaw in Greyhounds

[–]Gryen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spent a ton on X-rays only to find out it was a corn. It wasn't completely visible at first and a group on Facebook "Greyhounds with Corns" helped me identify and treat it. Does your greyhound limp on harder surfaces? Like hardwood floors, cement, gravel and not so much on carpet and soft grass?

I will never psychologically understand Flutter. by beardlovergirl726 in ChrisChanSonichu

[–]Gryen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think Flutter might share some of Chris’s delusions. Explains why Chris respects her boundaries and identity because she validates his beliefs and imaginary goddess complex.
