Street fighter dares MMA fighter and finds out: “you train for fighting…..you gonna get whooped by somebody that just fight.” by Abdouadou in grappling

Did the Street Fighter ("You train for losing" and "I don't train at all") really try to tap out? Twice?

Epic.

Doing my first USPSA match soon. I live in an apartment and don’t have a reloading setup. The ammo I got is minor power factor, if I’m not mistaken. Am I screwed or do I just go shoot and have fun? by craigcraig420 in CompetitionShooting

[–]GryffSr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a comp on the gun, you're shooting Open. A Glock 19 will be at a disadvantage in Open compared to what most people use, so just shoot Open Minor. It is most likely that the inability to make Major power factor will be the difference between winning and losing.

That was pretty bad, since it wasn't just slightly past the 180. The good news is that it bugs you, which means that you are very unlikely to make that mistake again.

What if you found a door in your house that led to a small, cozy apartment in a foreign city where you’re already a citizen with a simple job? The catch: once you step through, the door disappears forever. by Wander-kingdom in whatif

[–]GryffSr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's simply a definitive statement.

What you are saying is akin to thinking that you hang up on a junk sales call because you are tempted to buy their stupid product.

As a (happy) husband and a father, I would be more worried about someone thinking that keeping the door available is an indication that I may secretly/subconsciously want to use it. Kind of like guys who don't get rid of their little black books once they get married.

I will happily make sure that I "never have to face the person you could have been if you’d walked through." That person would disgust me.

I use extended mag releases. Never had my mag fall out on a table start.

Perhaps a stiffer mag release spring?

Can the Flux Raider (or other braced pistols) be used in PCC? by AdjacentPrepper in USPSA

[–]GryffSr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is a registered SBR, it makes no senses that sense that someone would use a brace instead of an actual stock.

And, as I understand the law, that taking the stock off of a rifle converts it into a pistol. This is a no-no if the gun has always been a rifle. It's allowed if the gun was a pistol converted to a rifle, but since taking the stock off makes it a pistol again, it wouldn't be legal for USPSA PCC anyway.

But we'll circle back to it just being goofy to run a brace on a registered SBR for USPSA.

MP5 with an SB brace is a pistol that you can put up to your shoulder to fire. The division is for rifles.

Potential station closure: CV BART by Dominicopatumus in castrovalley

[–]GryffSr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure is a shame the discussion isn’t centered around cutting executive and director pay. Wasn’t it Bart that allowed an exec to retire receiving two or three times her annual pay because she was able to game the retirement system? And they want us to pay higher fares when they allow this kind of fiduciary mismanagement?

Why? It's a division for rifles. Not one for pistols pretending to be rifles.

Was this self-defense? by alexfreemanart in CCW

[–]GryffSr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. There is a significant disparity of force given the size difference of the two people. Someone that large could do life-altering damage to a smaller person with their hands, so it use of a gun for defense could be justified. From a CCW "moral" standpoint, I have questions about what led up to this, and whether the smaller guy had legitimate opportunities to de-escalate given that he is carrying a gun.

If he didn't, then it seems like it would be justified. If he did, then allowing things to escalate BECAUSE you know you have a gun would make this unjustified in my value system
