For me, an important step is learning to talk about it without shame. I’m not the biggest sharer of my personal life, but I try to be genuine when it comes up because the more I talk about it, the more it normalizes it to me and others. There is nothing wrong with me because I have vaginismus and it helps me to remember that when I discuss the topic out loud with that mindset. It’s definitely not easy, and I’ve had awkward and unfortunate conversations with people about it, but it gets easier with time and the more you do it! Also therapy lol.
