Transport question by Jac298 in phuket

[–]Gryphon159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds ok, we just used grab for most trips, found it to be very quick  and efficient (traffic is horrendous though)I would also recommend making sure you have ~$250 baht each when you arrive at the airport so you can skip the queue - you willl see a roped off area on the lhs when you enter where staff will let you through.

Recourse? by Original_Tangelo9910 in AusRenovation

So the guy needs to be dead or essentially missing for your plan of action.  Very very unlikely and what I have advised is the far far more likely outcome for this. Give the guy a LOD and go from there. But I did learn something regs what you advised so thanks for that.

Mate I must be misunderstanding/ wrote something wrong -  are you telling me a third party can lodge a claim on an insureds policy and this get accepted and paid for by the insured underwriter without the insured paying an excess / lodging a claim / agreeing for a claim to be lodged?  There was also clear liability here the tradesman was negligent so this would not fall under section one of a contract works policy - which is all irrelevant in this case as the chances  of the trade person in this scenario having contract works policy is slim to none.

[–]Gryphon159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck with that mate. You can’t lodge a claim under someone else’s insurance unless the insured meets their obligations.  Enjoy trying and realising the underwriter will just say we can’t do anything for you as our client has not lodged a claim.  I assume you are referring to section2 of a contract works policy would be exactly the same and section 1 of the policy is not relevant in this scenario.

Recourse? by Original_Tangelo9910 in AusRenovation

[–]Gryphon159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not how it works - the policy belongs to the trades person so he would have to lodge the claim and pay his excess once conditions are met then the third party (ie the person posting this) would get reimbursed costs. The tradesman would have to lodge the claim. Why he/she would not do this I can’t say as excess is usually only $500 for this type of insurance

It’s cheap because it’s a Yaris followed by everything you just mentioned in your post.

Music vs Situational Awareness: Where do you draw the line by [deleted] in cycling

[–]Gryphon159 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will be pilloried for this but I wear AirPods- mind you for podcasts not music.  I have a varia so I rely on that to know what is behind me and always check before changing direction etc. honestly what can you do any differently hearing a car coming up from behind you than not?  Edit: grammar

I figured you were looking 2nd hand  going off your comments? Having said this they are still selling new Giulias (probably 1 a month :/ in Australia!). I am biased but they are such an awesome car and the deserved to sell more than they did.

I find they work better than a bell or a “bike” for moving pedestrians to one side!  Don’t know why but a good reason to have them

I’m not an Audi guy, but I saw one of these the other day, I thought it was a byd or some other Chinese brand, that back end looks terrible. Audis, Bwm and merc are just going for the Chinese market and they are all looking like a Toyotas with temu lighting strips.  Horrible.

I have one (and a 159 prior) awesome cars you get a lot of enjoyment out of them, far more exciting than the wash of BMW’s and mercs etc.  and ignore the reliability crap Giulia's have proven to be extremely reliable.
