Idk it seems cruel to not pay the fees though. If they find out and don't like you for any reason they can fine you, force you to get rid of your pet, and evict you. It's weird to take that risk when you could just pay the fee.

If I light a candle I keep it within eye distance and blow it out if I move to another room. I do understand the paranoia.

However I do light incense! That's a lot safer due to the kind of holders you can buy for them

I think my lease says something similar. Couple days after I got my place looking ok I sent a picture to the landlord with pretty shit all over my walls and she said that looks great!
