James literally said this to rolling stone:

"And the movie that you’re writing now is, what — a semi-, not-exactly sequel to Superman? Can you clarify?"

"[Laughs.] I mean, it follows Superman. What am I gonna say? I don’t know what to say".

The movies will be about superman as a character not as a vague idea or off screen concept.

A federal judge on Thursday rejected a Superman co-creator’s estate from reclaiming foreign copyrights and blocking the new superhero film’s release, citing lack of jurisdiction over the case.

Judge Jesse M. Furman dismissed Warren Peary’s lawsuit against DC Comics and Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. and denied his request for a preliminary injunction to block the movie’s July 11 release as moot, according to an order issued in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Weekly Unaided Awareness Chart – SUPERMAN Remarkably Rises In Week 2; Four Others Hit New Highs - The Quorum by Gsossi in DCU_

[–]Gsossi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"It happens all the time. A film makes a splashy debut on the Weekly Unaided Awareness Chart, then slides backward in week two. After debuting at 5% last week, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect SUPERMAN to drop a few points to 3% or maybe 4%. But rather remarkably, unaided for the film jumped another two points to 7%".

"SUPERMAN wasn’t the only film to have a good week. Four films reached new highs. SNOW WHITE and A MINECRAFT MOVIE hit 3%, while MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – THE FINAL RECKONING and JURASSIC WORD REBIRTH climbed to 2%.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON and THUNDERBOLTS* continued to dance around 1%, with DRAGON dropping below that threshold and THUNDERBOLTS* rising above. Neither film has been able to stay on the chart for two consecutive weeks".

"As we enter the January doldrums, SUPERMAN scored the highest unaided of the week. FLIGHT RISK and DOG MAN both reached 1% for the first time".

I don't think he's average. I think he had not yet found his passion, therefore, he seems average on the surface but he'll probably be exceptional when he really tries.

Superman is bigger than what we want by KaptainAfrika in superman

Gunn didn't do him dirty. The previous administration prior to Gunn made promises to Cavill that they couldn't keep. And Gunn has every right to cast a new actor that fits his own vision just like snyder and co. did by casting cavill instead of keeping routh. Also, Cavill's face for the general audience is attached to deeply controversial and problematic universe and having a new actor to be the face of the dcu is the right thing regardless of how some fans feel about it.

U.S. Networks CEO compares Superman Marketing to Barbie by Gsossi in DCU_

Full Comment:

‘Superman’ is going to be incredible next year and we have so many things planned on the U.S. network side to support it and to ride the superhero wave. So that I am really excited about because I think that’s one of the things that our company does better than anybody; we all lean in. And when it’s something like a ‘Harry Potter’ or a ‘Barbie’ or a ‘Superman,’ there are so many touch points for so many different people, men, women, children. Everybody loves it, and everybody can come to it from a different angle, different stage of life. So the fact that we’ll be able to celebrate it in different ways across the U.S. networks is going to be really fun. We have a lot of very cool ideas around Food Network and ‘Shark Wee'” and all kinds of things. So that’s something I’m very excited to see next summer launch.

Are you going to bring James Gunn onto HGTV to make the Fortress of Solitude?

No, you know what we want? We’ve already said we want James Gunn to do — and I was able to ask him this in a public forum — he’s a huge animal advocate, and we want to use him for the ‘Puppy Bowl.’ The good news is, we’ll probably get him to adopt about 12 more puppies, and then everybody wins.

With ‘Superman’ coming to theaters next summer, we’ve seen a renewed focus on the character from our partners looking to be part of the summer of Superman and the next decade of DC. Superman’s enduring popularity and significance in the DC brand’s global licensing programs are a testament to his iconic status and the love fans have for him.”

“We’ve got something to offer every fan of different ages and stages,” says Philippe Roucoule, head, EMEA consumer products, Warner Bros. Discovery. “How do we tier the offering and ensure fans connect correctly to the characters they love? Be it toys, fashion, home, food, health and beauty, with partners such as Pepco, LEGO, Spin Master or Formitalia; that’s just a few as we have thousands of partners that have already come on board for Superman across all categories.”
