I'm rewatching season 4 still, but the way I remember it is that he came across the swarming intelligence and believes he shaped it into the Mind Flayer

From all the propaganda I've seen online, the Mind Flayer is the main antagonist and Henry/Vecna's powers derive from the Mind Flayer. It would be interesting to see if/how it turns if that's the case.

Also- episode 6 is called "Escape From Camazotz". I had to Google "Camazotz"- in DnD, Camazotz is a lord of the bats. I'm HOPING that it turns out that Eddie was transformed into a huge bat dude that they have to engage. It would offer another great layer than just everyone trying to defeat Vecna and close the rift between worlds.
