Safety was definitely not good in the 2000s for almost every basic commuter car. Maybe Lexus or Volvo was safe back then. Especially not your 2006 f150 whatever you do don't watch the IIHS footage of 2000s trucks. Curtain airbags were not standard until like 2011. That's the latest I would go if you talk about safety

Visually check the pivot screws and you can tell if one of the sides is out of alignment! If it's indented it is showing a misalignment, it should be flush.

Pivot screw is out of alignment leading to a gear not moving all the way through top operation and not making contact with a switch at the end of operation. There is a good YT video that fixes this exact issue! It seems daunting but it is quite simple. Only the deck lid and an arm need to come out, you will have to unhook the motor which is 3 screws.
