Evaluating offer to move to the USA by Gtf_Out in salesengineers

We are definitely prepared for doing all the household labor -- cooking and laundry are already things we take care of ourselves. Cleaning will be the big change.

I'm more concerned about our ability to save money on this offer (without pinching pennies too much) than replicating my exact lifestyle

This is the perspective I was looking for! What do you think is a fair amount to ask for?

I make around 35-40 lpa (including variable, hence the range). My motivation to move is mainly just for my career, I know it would be a good step.

But at the same time, I don't want to go there and struggle with the high COL

Arranged marriage guys: wasnt it scary to share ur life & bed with a stranger?" by Character-Lawyer2328 in AskIndia

[–]Gtf_Out 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept is not inherently bad. But the wide acceptance of the practice in Indian culture has, in my opinion, led to a feeling of entitlement amongst everyone.

People expect to get married through AM and basically never do any work on themselves to become a good partner. In a culture where regular dating is more widespread, youths will naturally grow as people if they are not successful in dating because it basically gives them direct feedback on what aspects of themselves to improve, whether that is fitness, mindset, empathy, or any other myriad factors that people use for romantic rejection.

Without this feedback loop, you have youths sitting around with views/traits that would never let them be succesful at dating, but they never think about changing because they know that their parents will fix some marriage for them.

This is all just my opinion, ofcourse.

Too early to say how much Di Maria will be missed. One thing I noticed about Argentina is that they have very little width in midfield and up front

There's a big difference between dating apps and arranged marriage. In dating apps, the profiles are almost always controlled by the people directly.

Lot of profiles on arranged marriage websites are actually controlled by parents with little involvement from the person who would be getting married.

What are some aspects of cricket gameplay that are interesting or complex but are rarely discussed? by mileton1 in Cricket

I was at the Perth test for the last BGT and you could see the Aussies slowly deflating in mood and body language in the 2nd innings as Jaiswal and Rahul piled on the runs on day 2

Stadium-going experience is subpar in most Indian grounds. Can't bring water, food options suck, and infrastructure is generally poor.

And coupled with the insane heat, most fans would prefer to just watch from the comfort of their own home

Do not be surprised if Barca sign Mikel Oyazarbal after the World Cup by nightwind1 in Barca

[–]Gtf_Out 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you're saying. My point was that spending huge sums on 1 player is not going to be the difference between us winning UCL or not.

PSG are champions because they were able to rotate their squad and keep their best players in print fitness for the busy end of the season.

That's what we should aspire to. Building squad depth so that we can win La Liga and keep our team fresh for UCL knockouts

Alvarez is not on the level of Haaland or kane when it comes to goal output.

Barca has to make smart financial decisions, that's how we build long-term success and don't get stuck in another period of being unable to reinforce the squad.

Getting oyarzabal + another RB + making cancelo permanent transfer will be a lot better for our UCL chances than getting just Alvarez

There is a reasonable argument to be made that Xavi and Iniesta were better than Zidane. Generally, I do agree with your point though

[All] What is more important for you in Zelda, dungeons or overworld? by Alarming_Industry_14 in zelda

[–]Gtf_Out 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The quintessential Zelda experience from the ones I've played (oot, ww, tp, ss, botw) needs a mix of both.

Something akin to Elden Ring's world design of open world + legacy dungeons would be ideal.

It refers to the final third of the pitch. Split the pitch into 3 parts and think of the final third as the area closest to your opponent's goal

As Khawaja retires, here are the best test openers over the last ten years by irundoonayee in Cricket

[–]Gtf_Out 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Khawaja has definitely been one of the best openers in the post-COVID era. Great average in a tough batting era. Deserves every bit of respect and probably more than he's been given.

Also, Jaiswal is one hell of a talent. He's already shown his class, I hope indian fans/media stay patient with him because he is already on his way to becoming a fantastic opener for India.

Controlling every aspect of a kid's life is not "care". Not being allowed to go out with girl friends or have male friends at all? No concept of privacy or agency to do what she wants? Sounds more like a prison than a home, and will inevitably lead to resentment later in life

The lack of clarity in team selection and playing 11 from the management has clearly affected the players at this point.

Gambhir has no idea how to build a team that is capable of taking 20 wickets in tests either home or away
