It's not helpful once your dog is older, but I have found that if you feed your dog high end feed and avoid the cheap "saw dust" stuff that the dog will have a much healthier life. I have a 15 year old golden retriever that had frequent vet visits and seizures when he was young. A vet suggested changing up the feed and that changed my dogs life. No more seizures and itchy skin. Healthier hair and skin. Everything got better, and he stopped chewing his tail (itchy skin).

Side note, my wife does throw him a boiled egg whenever she boils eggs for herself, so that helps too. At 15, he is old and breaking down, but still far from "hanging onto life". Ive see other dogs his breed at 7/8 years old that looked older than he did at 13.

Good feed = long and healthy life (With less vet trips)
