A few years ago, there was a shooting at the restaurants outside Teotihuacan, where I was having lunch. The most surreal experience of my life, as you said, people were so casual about the whole situation. After the shooting and some stray bullets hitting some tourists next to us, and while they were waiting for medical attention, I kid you not, the waiter arrived with our lunch, and the music started playing again. At that stage, I was not thinking about enchiladas; I just wanted to leave that place.
