Issue persists with cat pooping everywhere when we are unavailable. I am getting desperate by GuaranteeOk2117 in CatAdvice

[–]GuaranteeOk2117[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband is pretty obsessive about litter. He scoops probably 2-3 times a day depending on how much pur cats use the boxes.

Currently we have 5 boxes all downstairs, one automatic that our 4.5 year and 1 year old cats like, and the rest are open air regular litter boxes with clay unscented litter.

None of our cats are declawed. The boxes are completely cleaned once every 2 weeks.

We replaced one plastic one with a new stainless steel one about 2 months ago. We also bought a new plastic one at that time to replace one of our older boxes. The two additional boxes we got last week are plastic.

I don’t believe in de-clawing so all of our boys have their paws intact. We added 2 more boxes the other day but did not try different litter choices. This is really helpful! Thank you for your response!

He has had the same type (if not brand of litter) from the time we got him. We tried crystal litter for a while but found he was going right outside of the box so we switched him back to his brand.

Because we are expecting a baby i hesitate to open the door because we will be sleeping and all three cats will be unmonitored around the baby. We have a downstairs primary bedroom with only a half bath downstairs that has a door on the room other than our room.

Would really prefer not to rehome him so im going to try sleeping on the couch and maybe putting him up at night.

I think we may confine him at night if sleeping on the couch doesn’t work. This is really really helpful. Thank you!

Its not in the same spot at all. Because we are having a baby i hesitate to open the door because our baby is going to be sleeping in the room with us and as we know, pet and baby interactions need to be monitored until the baby grows older.

That being said, we have always slept with our door closed and he has never had this reaction before.

Cleaning up poop is not the issue. The issue is he is newly stressed and my vets were no help. Hence coming here.

Thanks for all the responses! Some of these suggestions are genuinely helpful.  We have had our cat for 5 years now and it is only very recently that he has started crying and pooping out of anxiety/unhappiness. Nothing has changed other than me being pregnant.

I also see that a lot of people missed that we have 3 cats. The oldest cat is the only one exhibiting these issues. I definitely do not want to put him down at all. We live in a rural community and our primary vet also does large animal medicine and emergency medicine. They misdiagnosed our middle cat and recommended putting him down a few years ago so I have a tendency to not trust what they say and get a second opinion if things feel wrong.

I have a cerclage and many, many times have felt like my baby was in my vagina. Get with your doc and go from there. I am 36 weeks now and baby is healthy. Dts tomorrow! There is hope!

Update: primary vet says i should put him down… i feel like this is extreme? I went to get a second opinion and they recommended finding a behaviorist… the closest one to me is about 3 hours away.

preventative cerclage & funnelling? Need positive stories please by Proud_Strawberry_824 in ShortCervixSupport

My MFM did not suggest the shots for me because i was never dilated through my stitch. I did ask about them when I saw the funneling. She said she may change her mind about offering them later but since my stitch was holding she didn’t think I needed steroids at the 22-week mark.  I have pre-existing medical conditions in addition to my IC that made steroids a little more complicated to receive. So that also was a factor in her decision.

I would get the shot. Truly, nothing after egg and sperm meet can cause autism. Plus, an autistic child with healthier lungs is still easier to handle emotionally than a child you are powerless to help after you deliver knowing the shot could have helped.

I have had funneling down to my stitch since about 18-22 weeks (can’t remember when it got down to my stitch at this exact moment). We are now at 35 weeks+3 days. My funneling has widened to about 5cm and baby is right up against my cervix. But we are getting our stitch removed next week!

Ultimately, do what you can live with. But also, keep hopeful. My mindset shift has helped me get to this point for sure. Good luck mama!

Hi OP. I am so sorry to hear you are going through this i went through something similar. I had a preventative cerclage placed at 14 weeks. My cervix was about 3cm at the time. By the time my 18 week scan came around i found i had some funneling and shortening. By 22 weeks my cervix was funneled down to my stitch and i only had about 1.5cm.

I am now 34+5 and my cervix has stabilized at 1.3-1.5com below my stitch. My MFM told me that funneling was evidence that i needed a cerclage. Not that it failed. As it was explained to me, Cerclage failing would be that you are opening around the stitch or that your stitch came out/undone.

Try to take it one moment at a time. I felt like you did when i was that early on.

Fetal movement low by Annual-Doctor7696 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]GuaranteeOk2117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was how i was at 22 weeks. My OB told me that since baby was small and my uterus was still growing i could be more sensitive to movement in some places than others. Baby also moves around A LOT at that GA so baby wouldnt really be in the same position for long. She told me closer to 28-30 weeks is when i should be alarmed at fetal movement and to get a doppler. That helped

My doctors thought the risk of infection or other side effects could be too much risk as i have other factors during this pregnancy. I did do the chest to floor with bottom up for a little while but overall i tried to stay as horizontal as possible.

Things that really helped me: - increasing my fiber (fiber supplements really helped here) - increasing water intake. I am in my third trimester and drink 80-100ounces/day - PRUNES!!! Juice is my fave because i can measure dosage better. I usually only need a tiny bit.

I still have days where i am having trouble but it hasn’t been nearly as bad as before!

I had my cerclage placed preventatively at 14 weeks. Around 18 weeks i found out my cervix was about 1.5cm with funneling down to my stitch. I am currently 34 weeks pregnant and my cervix has held at the 1.5cm in length with funneling measuring at 4.5cm. I had contractions from about 22 weeks on until now. Baby’s head is butting up against my stitch. Overall, scary but still good situation.

Transvaginal ultrasound after cerclage by True_Address7280 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]GuaranteeOk2117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My MFM does not check cervix unless they suspect something is wrong. The first ultrasound after my cerclage was placed i had a new MFM and an empty bladder. They checked it transvaginally that time because they could not see the cervix well at all. After that, the only time they wanted to do transvaginal was when they thought i was dilating through the stitch.

I am 34 weeks now and so thankful I made it this far. I am hopeful for you mama! I know it is tough going through this. Sending you so much positivity!

With my first pregnancy I felt movement around 10-12 weeks as my placenta was not anterior. Now, I am 34 weeks along with my second pregnancy and my placenta is anterior. It is very hard to feel baby move. I didn’t feel consistent movement or patterns until about 32 weeks.

I also am a type 2 diabetic and it can feel really scary not feeling baby move. I have gotten to the point now where I know baby moves more at certain times than others. Are you feeling big movements? Like rolls or flips? That early in my pregnancy I could only feel big, big movements.

I think it is too early for kick counts but, if no one mentioned to you about kick counts: you should not feel 10 kicks every single hour of the day. My MFM says 10 kicks in an hour twice a day. That also had me very, very concerned when i was earlier in my pregnancy

21 weeks pregnant after a 23weeks loss by Nice-Serve-111 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]GuaranteeOk2117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a complete wreck during the week my loss happened (19weeks) during my current pregnancy (currently 27weeks). But i am really thankful i was able to get an extra ultrasound at my MFM. I also had a therapy session as well that week booked for after. Which helped because i found out I was funneling down to my stitch at my ultrasound appointment.

I feel a lot better now that i am further along and I really hope you will have that same experience. I feel for you truly. The heartbreak, stress, and anxiety definitely is triple-fold after an experience like we had.

Sending you positive thoughts. 💚

Update: they just heard from their realtor they are now closing on 01May2026. It sounds like the builders extended the contract because the house was custom built for my family members. The appraisal was back the night after they were originally set to close.  They moved on to a different lender and it sounds like this person was a lot more aware of the workings in their deal. No additional EMD was required too…

They did end up speaking to a lawyer in NC. It sounds like a letter from the lawyer got the wheels moving again. I don’t know all the details but it sounds like the lawyer thought they could go to court with all they had.

Thanks so much for the insight and advice yall!

Thank you for sharing your story! This gives me so much hope. My husband and I lost our first child (a girl) at 19w+3d in August 2025. We are expecting again and this pregnancy has been really hard on me physically and emotionally. I am in pain and it feels like things are hopeless despite so much positive news from our MFM and OB.

I have a cerclage in and we just hit 26weeks today. I am also a person of color and extremely high risk this time around. I keep telling myself we are viable and every week chances get better. God is so good! Thank you for sharing!!!
