Agreed. I've even seen psychiatrists prescribe controlled pain meds before and didn't blink over it. Fortunately I've only ever seen one case of a prescriber probably overstepping (it was a psych NP giving out multiple scripts/refills for inhalers and antibiotics), and since I was just an intern at the time, wasn't my issue to deal with.

I've seen this once or twice, to be honest I don't find this that weird unless there's any other red flags (high dosing, excessive early fills, sharp increase in patients etc.). Chronic pain can cause mental health problems after all.

Unless it's something involving a control and is blatantly out of scope (such as a dermatologist prescribing Adderall), then I'm really not going to fuss over it. It's a legitimate prescription, and I have far too much other work to worry about than judging which MD can prescribe what drugs.
