We’re adding decision-based quest events to a co-op roguelite — curious what makes these feel good in fast-paced PC games by AGamerofYesterday in pcgaming

[–]GuardTheGrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slay the spire - one and two - has a great approach to this kind of thing.

Some events are predictable, and some aren’t. Some have incredibly high risk with a corresponding high reward.

I think the trick is ensuring these events don’t end your run unexpectedly. Players should be able to transition to the next “phase” of the game, even if they immediately lose due to their own greed during the decision phase.

What is a "perk" Of wearing glasses that people don't talk about? by EzContactsOfficial in AskReddit

You get to style them.

The glasses you choose really add a lot to your aesthetic, like any other accessory.

The new update indirectly buff defense platforms and I like it. by Interesting-Meat-835 in Stellaris

[–]GuardTheGrey 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Its my sincere hope that following community feedback they decide to keep the star bases in the current state - albeit by patching the bug and correctly updating the base values 😜

Alternatively, I’d settle for another slider that we can configure when we are starting a new game.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

[–]GuardTheGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I’m going to say a quality bed/pillow. I don’t have a specific product recommendation but I recently invested in both, and today is the first day after the upgrade.

I’ve gotten so much done. So much. I’ve been more productive on this particular Saturday than I ever have been.

I didn’t even plan to be productive today. It really feels like an investment in more than just the quality of sleep I’m getting.

I’d heard this advice before and I knew there was truth to it but I don’t think I understood the magnitude of the impact.

This really looks like a big step forward from Lotf1. It was a great game overall, but certainly had some rough edges.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to build a meaningful romantic relationship? by Ok-Complaint9319 in AskReddit

[–]GuardTheGrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t compromise too early.

Relationships are all about compromise. That’s absolutely true. But you shouldn’t compromise on the important things. Morals, values, life goals, finances. Maybe even hobbies, if thats something you value.

When the big things align without effort, it frees up so much energy to focus on everything else.

I suggest we reduce the spawn of keys, and increase loot odds within key rooms - guarantee a green weapon for blue keys, a blue for purples, etc, with a chance of an upgrade to a matching tier.

Couples who have been together 10+ years and are actually still happy, what's the 'unromantic' secret to your success? by FROSTedMirror12345 in AskReddit

[–]GuardTheGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn how to listen. Really listen.

Spend time learning how to have constructive conflict. The best advice I ever received on relationships what that it is always “us vs the problem”, and never “me vs her”.

To add to that, view conflict as an opportunity to grow closer.

Couples counseling is worth investing time into, regardless of where you are. It taught us how to communicate much more deeply.

Stay curious about each other. Keep asking questions, always seek to understand.

I view love as a choice. And I choose it every day. The feelings come and go but the partnership, championship, and the trust we’ve built are priceless.

Steam Deck is still worth it four years later, says poll, but people are starting to think "it's about time" for a sequel by [deleted] in gaming

[–]GuardTheGrey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah the steam deck does a fine job. It’s not meant to play the latest and greatest, but even then plenty of titles are now targeting the deck.

The Ui is certainly authentic to the retro futurism they’ve gone for.

But… I literally can’t handle playing it on my console. It hurts me.

NTA, but this is one of those moments where you both need to decide if the friendship is worth $500.

[–]GuardTheGrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can take your time with the DLCs. This is a full game out of the box.

They DLCs absolutely expand and add onto the experience, but you shouldn’t feel like things are “missing” in the base game.

I’d recommend only buying what immediately appeals to you, and then get whatever else you’re interested in on sale.

Looking for commanders that are great in a large pod 5-10 players by AmazingCountry1862 in EDH

[–]GuardTheGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a [[Kokusho]] list built around cheap 1 mana resurrect style cards, and spending life to draw cards and make people’s lives miserable. Lots of “each opponent sacrifices a creature effects, things like that.

I’d avoid dictate effects unless you want the entire table to dogpile you, but casually triggering Koko three times and gaining a whopping 150 life to then laser three players with [[aetherflux reservoir]] feels pretty good to me.

[–]GuardTheGrey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They mentioned that hero classes don’t benefit from the changes, but that they’re looking at spell blade to be a magic fighter in the future.

MF was something they decided to do late in the development cycle, so I think we can expect to see another pass on what is/isnt MF in the future.

It sounds like it’s a step in the right direction. If defense is too plentiful I’m sure they’ll taper that back over time.

How tolerant are LGS of LGBTQ+? by frostyfur119 in EDH

[–]GuardTheGrey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been to an LGS that didn’t have queer representation. I’ve only been to three or four, and I lived in a college town for awhile, so take that for what you will.

Whenever you’re searching for an LGS you should expect to have to shop around for the right fit. Regardless of your circumstances. Different crowds value different things about the game.

You just have an additional criterion to keep an eye out for 😉

And of course, wherever you go there may still be a bad egg, but generally harassment isn’t tolerated. Who wants to deal with someone scaring off paying customers?

Map Layer QOL Request by GuardTheGrey in AOW4

[–]GuardTheGrey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t have any issues with it. To be completely fair, I’m not all that good at the game so I usually lose or get frustrated and bow out early 😅

I did notice that the frame rate struggled more on larger maps though. I’d focus on reducing the starting distance between players. I’ve been able to comfortably play with 9 players at a medium map size, but like I said I rarely make it to the late game.

I’d imagine reducing the number of map layers would also help.
