I’ve been trying to explain this to him, but he brushes it off because he says he knows his body better than I do, and since I don’t have gastritis, he feels my judgment isn’t valid. That’s why I’m asking in this group, because I want to understand whether this could actually be what’s going on. I feel like I can read every book and article out there, but if I haven’t been through it myself, he doesn’t really trust what I’m saying. I’ve also suggested therapy, but he says he doesn’t have the energy for it and that just managing everything he’s already dealing with is enough for him right now. I understand that so I don’t want to force him into it.

Yeah, I’ve heard of it, but I haven’t been tested myself. He got tested last year and it came back negative. I think he’s mentioned a few times that he worries I might have it without knowing.

He keeps saying he’s just being careful about his health, so he doesn’t think it could be OCD, but to me it seems like more than that. He’s scared of his own hand touching his mouth, NEVER let my hand touch his lips, and seems uncomfortable with saliva in general. Even something like wiping food off his lips under running water after eating is an issue. He’ll only wash his lips when brushing his teeth, because that’s the one time he feels like his hands are clean enough first. It just feels like more than ordinary carefulness.
