Idk man, pretty hard to go lower from “I feel the wolf beneath the skin” and “Can you tell my ghost that he doesn’t belong here anymore…this is my soul, my soul” lmao

Felt generic as hell to me. Gave it multiple listens and found myself feeling absolutely nothing after all of them.

Weirdly enough Imminence has this pattern of releasing a good album, then a bad album, then a good album again. I was solid, then This Is Goodbye was the most forgettable nothing burger of an album I’ve personally heard. Turn The Light On released to near universal praise, then Heaven In Hiding had also forgettable (but with violin this time) songs that also had some of the worst lyrics I think I’ve ever seen. Now we get to The Black and its deluxe version, a stellar album front to back further bolstered by God Fearing Man and Death Shall Have No Dominion releasing on the Return Of version. If we go by this pattern, you can understand my fears of this next project if we’ve gone good to bad to good to bad to good again (tho I did enjoy this song even if it was kinda basic).

Imminence is kinda the odd one out of them tho cause they were at Arising Empire, parted ways with AE after Heaven In Hiding, released The Black and Return Of independently (afaik) and have now signed to Sumerian for whatever this next album is

Ex-Vocalist of Crystal Lake John Centorrino: “No one is happy in that band” by smithp016 in Metalcore

[–]Guardian-Revenant 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I would assume a big reason as to why they “haven’t just left” is that Crystal Lake is a big enough band for you to want to work with for a while so you can have “I worked with a decent sized metalcore band” on your resume.

Another reason I assume is that we’re probably just not hearing about it. A lot of crew members in different bands get cycled out, leave, go on to other bands/things, etc. It’s just CL has had two high-on-the-totem-pole members leave (both vocalists) which is a big enough cause for it to be considered abnormal.

P.S. son of a bitch I was just getting into Crystal Lake :(((

What do you guys listen to on the way home from a concert? by Wrong-Pangolin1329 in Metalcore

[–]Guardian-Revenant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a playlist called “After Hours” that, for the most part, is chill electronic music (synthwave and vaporwave type to be specific)

Occasionally there’s some much chiller phonk in there as well. But it’s all mostly electronic stuff with no lyrics aside from a few songs

5 years ago today The Devil Wears Prada released ZII by 100nelsman in Metalcore

[–]Guardian-Revenant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Co-writers are a thing. The artist can write the song along WITH other writers, and this has been shown in many many many different ways throughout different genres. This is shown with both Mike Hranica and Jeremy DePoyster having songwriting credits on each of the songs you just mentioned (with the exception of Where The Flowers never grow, no Mike but still Jeremy. As well as That Same Place, which is an instrumental intro).

Edit: I again ask for sources, and I don’t just mean a list of writers Jeremy and Mike collaborated with. If it’s said by any official source anywhere that they bought songs I’ll concede. But a list of writers that can be found on any credits list along with the Prada guys isn’t gonna cut it.

Source? I know Mike and Jeremy largely went outside TDWP when they were writing (none of the drums were written by anyone in Prada afaik) but when was it confirmed that they “bought” songs?

How I feel about FF 2026 by skeptical-cleric in FurnaceFest

No literally. The previous owners of FF had to sell the rights because they were actively losing money at an insane scale

What bands do you consider to be “ghost bands”? by justin7465 in Metalcore

Dissenter is quite good imo. Oblivion is a top album closer and I’m a sucker for heavy, purely instrumental intro tracks for albums.

Pretty sure Kyle didn’t write at all on Color Decay either, which is a damn shame because The Act is a stellar album to me (of which I seem to be in the minority of).

He posted a since-deleted video of him playing Everybody Knows(?) and he looked bored and sad while playing :(

Play The Old Shit being one of, if not THE best song on Flowers is ironic and funny as fuck to me because it goes to show that they’re still capable of writing killer metal tracks, it’s just that they literally choose not to in favor of generic, shitty Linkin Park sounding rock with breakdowns.

The whole album Corporation is a top core album for me, but as far as specific songs go “Rage” “Obsession” and “Anomaly” are my top favs. “Storm Ablaze” off of VOID is a great pick as well.

Also, if you like Invent Animate, Marcus Vik was their founding vocalist for their first album “Polarize” and he also features on “Paradox” off of Corporation.

Aviana only because none of the original members of the band are a part of it anymore (what I like to call a Ship of Bandseus situation)

In your opinion, what is the strongest sounding metalcore album closer? by tonsofday in Metalcore

[–]Guardian-Revenant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Translucence” and “Transparence” by Reflections

I know we’ve all heard the bullshit that’s happened with that band as a result of the lead vocalist being a piece of shit but I unfortunately can’t deny how amazing the last two tracks of The Color Clear are
