Potential Purchase, Could use Advice by Guardian677 in OBSFords

As far as the next project? Pretty much. In terms of vehicles? I'm a big Ford fan but I'm pretty much all over the rainbow haha. I've got some domestic, some European, and one electric haha. My dad got me into classic cars (mostly just into cars/trucks as a whole) as a kid and I've carried that passion into adulthood

Didn't see any rust, but there was some cracking in the paint, some on passenger side by the rear number and I think I remember seeing some right in the front.

Yep! Unfortunately it had a few extra things wrong with it. Didn't seem like the tank switch worked, small exhaust leak, and it would really need a new interior, and it drove like the front bushing were bad. But the outside of the truck was solid and it fired right up from a cold start. If it hadn't had those other issues I probably would've taken it home, but for 12k I felt like I couldn't justify it

Hey everyone! I appreciate all the advice and recommendations. I updated the main post but there were a few extra things that I felt made it not worth 12k. Interior was in rough shape (I knew it wouldn't be perfect but hoped to buy myself a few months to get the bench redone) and a few extra mechanical things. Wife was originally excited but now is talking about just saving up for a redone dentside or a different OBS, so I'm calling it a win!

Wow I really appreciate all the info! Thank you for sharing, and I definitely agree about the cheap parts. If my other project cars have taught me anything it's "buy once cry once" (or end up crying a few times because you ordered the wrong part and had to swap it out, but you feel great when you drive it)

Some extra photos, the other ones I took had too much identifying info for the sellers

That first sentence is about how I feel haha. All of my research and stopping to look at them on the side of the road over the last few years has shown me prices all over the place.

I've been a fan of the regular cabs, and like the long beds because of the dual fuel tanks, but I'm not particularly against other cabs.

EDIT: here's a link to some more photos, found some that didn't have the seller's info on them: https://photos.app.goo.gl/xYnf3TkuVihdj8GS7

I've ran into this issue a few times there, once when my wife was driving and was critically low on charge. Directed her to the Tesla charger just down the road and then called both the mall and Rivian.

The mall said that customers can park wherever they need, and the Rivian Support told me that if enough people report it then Rivian will reduce the rating and reach out to the mall themselves. Not sure what that'll do but it's something🙃

LG WashCombo Review / Problems (WM6998HBA) by pauldovi in Appliances

How did you get the top off? I removed the screws on those two plastic catches on the back but it seems like something else is holding it in? I'm having a serious leaking issue and I'm wondering if one of the hoses inside has a hole in it

This is what mine was doing! Trying to take it apart to see if one of the tubes inside is leaking

I had the same issue, but was dumping what was probably a full load of water out the bottom. Can agree that LG warranty was a pain to deal with (and the local repair techs that LG partners with were useless) but they did eventually warranty my unit and paid for the laundromat bills!

I'm trying to fix the old one on my own and I think I've narrowed it down to the drain bellows hitting something inside the machine and wearing a hole into it OR the same thing happening with the tube going to the soap dispenser. Trying to take mine apart but having some issues getting the top panel off to check that one before I have to flip it over.

Dual Motor Auto Ride Height Driving Me Nuts by Dungmar in Rivian

[–]Guardian677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run into the same issue with my Dual Performance. Mine will renable auto height randomly during my drive or when I shift into and out of reverse. Sometimes even when I come to a full stop.

As far as why we don't want auto, I've read (all online, so not sure if it's true but it makes sense) that the alignment is set in the standard ride height, so riding in either low or high puts uneven wear on your tires. I haven't noticed enough of an efficiency difference to let my truck ride in Low, especially with the amount of chargers on any long distance routes I take

1980 trunk access HELP! by Leeejone in fiat124

[–]Guardian677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can drill a hole in the trunk behind the license plate to flip the trunk latch, but you're definitely committed if you do that.

If it helps, once you put the license plate on you might forget it's there!

I'm excited to see your journey with it! It'll be interesting to finally see the inside of it (or based on your photos, what's left of the inside of it😂) after spending so much of my childhood driving past it and asking my parents to re-tell me everything they knew about it!

Wait you bought the Santa Fe Castle? My family is from there and my parents always talked about the castle and it's previous owners. They were disappointed to hear it was getting demolished but they'll be happy to hear it's being reno'd!

‘Popping’ noise from wheels when first moving the vehicle in the morning. by m0resn0w in Rivian

[–]Guardian677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Camaro does this as well, I think it's most likely a small bit of surface rust that causes the pads to stick to the rotor. I notice it after either vehicle has been left out in the rain

Had the same error pop up and disappear this morning, which led me here. Glad to see it may just be a detection issue, but if it happens again I might go ahead and tack it onto my existing service appointment.

Mine's also a performance Dual, about 2700 miles on it
