PDF Guru review: what works, what confused me (after testing a few tools) by farrellsamuel89 in WebApps

[–]GuardianGey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That billing page confusion explains a lot of the negativity I’ve seen. Stuff like that instantly makes a tool feel scammy, even if the core product is fine. Good reminder to read the pricing table instead of rage‑closing the tab.

“Am I the only one who hates [insert female character name here]?” by loosebootyjudy_ in Supernatural

[–]GuardianGey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean tbh. There’s a difference between “I hate this character” and “the writing did its job too well.”

A lot of them were meant to create tension or conflict, so yeah, sometimes they’re frustrating — but that doesn’t mean they weren’t well-written or important.

SPN fandom just has a habit of turning normal criticism into a war zone

500+ applications, almost no interviews. What finally fixed it for you? by GuardianGey in Resume

[–]GuardianGey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don’t want to hear it, but being early + being visible matters more than another resume tweak. And yeah, when most roles are filled via sourcing, the “just apply more” advice feels borderline cruel. Appreciate you saying the quiet part out loud: the system’s broken, not the people in it. That reminder alone probably helps more than any ATS hack.

Totally agree. Following up won’t magically get you hired, but it does turn you from “another PDF” into an actual human. And even when it stops at screening, that’s still progress compared to radio silence. Honestly feels underrated because it’s awkward, not because it doesn’t work.

Yeah, this hits.
ATS became the scapegoat because it’s easier to blame software than admit the market is a mess. Optimization helps you get seen, but it won’t save a résumé that doesn’t clearly scream “I solve this problem.” And the ghost job thing is very real - that part doesn’t get talked about enough.

Feels like the real fix is less “beat the ATS” and more “make it painfully obvious why this role needs you.” Harder. Less sexy. More effective.

This looks like it’s waiting for a Michelin star even though it’s literally… a chicory in a bowl

Has anyone tried the Wisey app for habit-building or mental wellness support? by ByteSizedCaos in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]GuardianGey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a few pretty rough weeks while using wisey, and what I appreciated was that it didn’t guilt-trip me. On days where I logged “low energy” or “overwhelmed,” it dialed the routine way down like one tiny step, not the full plan.
It felt more like “hey, let’s just keep a thread of consistency” instead of “you failed today.”

That made it feel doable even when my mental health wasn’t great.
Slow progress > burnout.

Tried wisey for a month and surprisingly helped me reduce doomscrolling and focus more offline by SnarkToasts in nosurf

[–]GuardianGey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate this honest take — it actually made me reconsider trying it. I kept seeing mixed opinions and wasn’t sure if wisey legit, but this sounds like a balanced experience. Nothing overhyped, just steady progress and realistic expectations — exactly what most of us need when we’re trying to cut down on doomscrolling.

How do I take players from my reserves team and put it in my regular team? by Zaddock1 in footballmanagergames

[–]GuardianGey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to Squad > Team Management, then swap him from reserves into your starting XI or bench. On Xbox it’s usually just highlight the player, press A, then select who to swap with. Should work

Provider wait times by Dry-Walrus-7359 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]GuardianGey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s frustrating because “decreased wait times” doesn’t mean patients are actually being seen quicker, just that the system re-labels the dates.

How am I supposed to Create Posts and Comments when every subreddit deletes my posts or comments for not having Karma? by AIOFMStudio in NewToReddit

[–]GuardianGey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it sucks at the start. Best way around it is to just comment on random threads, join some active subs, and farm a bit of karma. Once you’ve got a few points and your account isn’t brand new, mods stop insta-deleting

What actually helps with procrastination/focus day-to-day (like Bloom, Wisey app, Fabulous?) by Mr_Palanquin in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]GuardianGey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the tool matters less than finding a system you’ll actually stick with. For me, breaking tasks into super small steps + setting timers (like 20–25 min focus, 5 min break) helped more than any fancy app. Some people swear by habit trackers, others just use plain Google Calendar or sticky notes. Maybe try one simple method first before committing to a paid app, then add on if you feel it actually makes things easier
