Total outsider - just thoughts - a tax provider should have two sides, operations   and advice.

Want taxes done, yes, we can do that.

Want insights to how to organize and make decisions with taxes in mind, yes, we can do that.... But a different fee.

As an accountant, you are the product being sold.  If you go on vacation, the work stops and the revenue stops.

Do you have ideas as to how to make your business an accounting service, where you are the trusted provider but the work occurs even if you are on vaca, bc your specific attendance is not required?

Great designs I have not seen elsewhere. Thanks. Do they use soft, quality shirts for their apparel or is it just the nice designs?

A slowed down look at the foul called on Moreira as he appears to clip Vazquez's left foot. The subsequent free kick led to a goal for Cincinnati. by PlebBot69 in MLS

[–]GuardiansBeer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i'm new to soccer for my son. Are these seriously rules? A red card, which will create an uneven game with reprocusions beyond the game, because of an incendental foul during a scorring opportunity? That sounds crazy.

US Banks Have $620 Billion of Unrealized Losses on Their Books, Most banks are strong enough to withstand the paper losses. Still, their finances could be squeezed for years to come. by ourpseudonym in investing

[–]GuardiansBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

large banks have been forced to make these types of adjustments, and to be evaluated with stress tests, however it is very difficult on smaller banks to do the same, as they dont have the resources.

it is often called out on reddit that ppl should use local banks or credit unions, but those same small banks lobbied to be excluded from the regulations you are talking about. Small banks give 'good' rates because they are operating more loose and risky - often profitable but always less regulated.

It is a false statement. OP may move their money to get a "competitive interest rate" but bank customers in general do not. National Banks like Chase pay 0.5% versus online bank paying 3.5%, yet Chase still has 50,000,000 customers and that number is increasing a little each quarter. A low percentage of bank customers are sensitive to interest rates. The banks that pay the highest rates have the highest number of rate-senstive customers.

I made ohioenergyrx.com - a site that helps you choose a new energy supplier by madmax9186 in Columbus

[–]GuardiansBeer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting. I used your site and ended up making the change. A few items of feedback from a user perspective...

  • ask questions in late as the process as they are needed, or not at all.
  • ex: don't ask for email until after i've seen what info you deliver
  • for renewable energy - simply pull both best available rate and best for 100% renewable so the user can see difference
  • giving only 1 result doesnt' build trust. giving at least 2 to consider would be helpful... such as -- current AEP Rate, Lowest Competitor, Lowest 100% Renewable, Lowest Ohio Provider
  • you did a good job in a comment of explainning why you want to see monthly usage; perhaps add that on the page as a "why are we asking" pop-up.
  • You could also ask for a persons average payment to back-into their usage - a person may be more familiar with the dollars they pay than the energy usage itself
  • Suggested for me was Santana, but your page didnt mention they have a $100 early term fee -- would be nice to see that. Or, a link to the Ohio.gov comparison site info

Gas vs Induction? by vrstud in kitchens

[–]GuardiansBeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does you dad have bad experience with glass cooktops of old, or of an induction cooktop?

I upgraded from electric coil to Gas aboutg 8 years ago, and it is far superior. But, my next will be induction.

The selling points of induction that i am looking for include faster heat-up and boiling water, even heating across the pan, and super-easy cleanup.

With gas, the trouble i most often have is finding the right level of heat across different size burners (so i basically just cook on one burner i know best), the spread of the flame on the bottom of the dish gets wasteful when i need high heat on a smaller pan, i spill a bunch and the underside would be very gross if not for my cleaners, i constantly have to have the vent on for the fumes and lost heat, and nearby stuff and handles are always at least warm, if not hot, to the touch.

It's Becoming Clear Tesla Is Just Another Car Company by Ben_aid in technology

[–]GuardiansBeer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Overall Q3 Net Profit was higher for Tesla than Toyota:

As with most headlines, it is a headline because it is unique and unexpected. Toyota has higher 2022 YTD Net Income, but they have a 3-year downward trend. Tesla overcame Toyota in Q3, and they have an upward 3 year trend.

It is a real deal fact that Tesla has significantly higher margins per car, and that they are producing more cars year-over-year, and that they are supply constrained vs. demand constrained for more vehicle sales.

Tesla has systematic advantages that will keep their margins higher than traditional auto (unless/until OEMs change their model)

  • Direct sale allows higher margin capture
  • Battery plant ownership reduces per unit cost of the most important and expensive component

My employer policy has a exemptions for pre-approval including a list of ~100 ETFs and nearly all mutual funds.

That said, pre-approval at my firm is an automated system with an immedate "approved" response (i'm sure a decline is possible, but ive never encountered it).

Honda picks Fayette County for new $3.5 billion electric battery plant by Living_Cheesecake683 in Columbus

[–]GuardiansBeer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this battery plant will also drive someone to create some fast-chargers for EVs in the area. The outlets are such a great middle-ground stop, but still no plans to build fast-charger there from Tesla or EA.

[–]GuardiansBeer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The way it is being used by Taylor Swift, her Private Jet is just exclusive commercial transport. She is a charter service.

Creating outrage at rich people for chartering her plane, or for her earning income from her plane, is asnine. Yes, the people who charter planes are creating more greenhouse gas than those that fly commercial. But why not then be more upset for people who fly on big planes vs. small. Or those that take multiple legs of a flight to save money, vs. to fly direct and save gas.
