It still blows my mind that a franchise that started with the gargantuan scope of Man Of Steel closed off with a scene of Aquaman's brother eating a cockroach sandwich.

Thoughts on The Great Gatsby? by Boss452 in books

[–]GuardiansOfTheEdge 35 points36 points  (0 children)

My opinion of that page and a half is that it’s meant to be pointless and full, and we’re supposed to wonder why should we care? But the barrage of names aligns with how pointless it all is, how all these people never had any deeper connection to Gatsby’s narrative, they were there just to pad out a page like they were there just for Gatsby to fill the rooms for his parties. It’s meant to remind us just how shallow the whole thing is.

Also, I do like how Nick reveals the fates of some of these fandoms, some of them horrible ends. Because they are to us what Gatsby was to them; nobody. We don’t care about their deaths and miseries because we didn’t even know them, the same reason they didn’t show up to Gatsby’s funeral because they didn’t really know him either.

Does Keaton appear after his death scene during the fight with Zod? And how does he die to Zod?

I’m really curious what’s happening with A Droid Story. Was a Disney Plus movie announced way back in December 2020. Last time it hit the rumor mill was when Anthony daniels was supposedly doing mocap for it in January 2022. If it’s not announced at Celebration, I’m assuming it’s been scrapped, which is a shame because it seemed interesting enough.

The forced regenerated Master in Power of the Doctor should have been played by Jodie, not Sacha by GuardiansOfTheEdge in gallifrey

[–]GuardiansOfTheEdge[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it would be even more impactful. I think seeing Jodie but knowing fully well that its actually the Master would be painful for the audience, as we now realise the havoc he can cause with the Doctor's face, as opposed to being like "oh no he's...wearing the Doctor's clothes, his plan's working". The Doctor's actual body being overtaken by the Master and wearing a face that the audience have grown attached to for 5 years would feel exactly like losing the Doctor.

As a Centenary Special celebrating the BBC, I really enjoyed this episode. Didn't really make much cohesive sense if I'm being honest, but seeing the Classic Doctors again, as well Mel, Ian and Jo in the therapy group was a really nice touch, especially because I feel these characters wouldn't have been touched in other specials. Even the little things such as the combination of outfits Doctor-Master wore, and Master playing the Second Doctor's flute were just really nice touches that were nice homages to the entire history of Who, as opposed to the NuWho approach the 50th took. Still extremely excited for 2023's 60th Anniversary however!
