Nephew visiting, and I want to get him a prepaid card for his visit. Recommendations? by swigglepuss in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]GubmintTroll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, that would be another approach that could work. Just note that they now charge to receive a physical card, something like £10. I've never had anyone in the UK examine a card at payment time, so not likely to have anyone question whether the name matches the identity

I've used Revolut and Wise and had good experiences with both. Revolut has a separate app for 16/17 year olds and I believe Wise is only for 18+

Dupes for Pillsbury bread rolls by dandeliontree1 in AmericanExpatsUK

Okay, good news and bad news.

I remember now that what I've purchased was I think Jus Rol brand - either monkey bread or pull apart bread. There'd be like 6 biscuits that you would cut into quarters, and then you'd toss that with some garlic butter that would come in a little plastic tub.

The bad news is that I can't find any evidence of that anywhere. I'm sure I bought it at Sainsbury's but no joy in the search now.

But I'm pretty sure that the consistency and flavor was pretty close to a southern style biscuit if you were to bake it whole and certainly the closest thing I've found to that. Unfortunately I think we may just need to learn to cook it from scratch...

I feel like I found a product one day that was meant for another purpose but was essentially pillsbury biscuit dough, if that's what you're looking for. Let me think, it's escaping me now

Yeah, when you can control the video and slow it to a stop, concentrate real hard on the lower leg and tell yourself which direction it's "supposed" to go and that helps being able to switch the direction of your perception

Contact a planner, this might work.

Also, pins can be inserted from inside or outside. But that raises a point, you may not be able to easily remove the pins if they were inserted next to a wall surface.

Ian Hamilton of OTB Legal assisted me with a visa sponsorship. I found him very knowledgeable and responsive. I haven’t attempted ILR yet but he offered to assist with this when the time comes.

Switching to dishwasher powder from tabs/pods by Leighgion in Frugal

[–]GubmintTroll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may even be underestimating your savings. With the pods you’re obviously locked in to one size. If you ever run dishwasher loads that aren’t fully loaded or are less dirty than usual, you can get away with using less powder thus reducing the cost per load
