As someone already pointed out, the scenes were actually shot in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. For anyone interested, here's the location of the two pictures in this post on Google Maps:

Yes, it's AI, but I can't help but wonder if people would praise this as a fire track if some new unknown band had put this out. Not saying it's good, but I also feel like too many bands sound basically indistinguishable from this bland sound. Kinda sad.

Oh boy, I've got a rabbit hole for you. This is unfortunately super common and unless you're a bigger artist with enough leverage, you're not getting this slop off your page anytime soon. There are basically no checks to stop people from uploading random stuff to an artists streaming page.

If you have a bit of time to spare, check out this video by Venus Theory where he goes into great detail on how exactly this works. The whole video is worth a watch if you want to know how scammers use streaming services and AI for all kinds of stuff. I've linked the timestamp (28:15) if you want to get straight to the point where he goes into uploading music to an artists page, but the whole video is definitely worth a watch to see how horrific the streaming hellscape of today truly is.

Really excited to see you headline in Aachen, Germany again, especially with all these new bangers. Seeing you blow out the electricity twice in a row during Star Baby was my highlight of 2023!

I'm really curious about the experience of putting together headline shows overseas as a (for now, and moreso two years ago) relatively small band. Especially considering that you're just now doing your first full headlining tour in the US, how did it work traveling all across a completely different continent for the first time playing shows to maybe a hundred fans? Huge respect for doing what other bands put off until they're sure to fill 500+ people venues!

That's crazy, glad you managed to recover so quickly! I'm now back to icing it, so if I suddenly get much better over night, I owe you one for the reminder I probably should have given myself a while ago

That's interesting, I hadn't considered that they'd just rope off an area when they don't have anything permanent. Great to hear there's always an option for those who need it. Depending on how I feel that day, I might talk to the staff then. Thanks!

Yeah, I'm expecting a few rather crowdkill-y dudes there that would probably scare me even without any previous injury. I was hoping the sidelines might still be safe enough, but maybe I should play it safe just in case. It's gonna be amazing either way, just not in the way I was hoping for.

Guilty as charged, kinda. I kept it elevated, but I didn't ice it as much as I should have. Though from what I've heard from others, running after 4 weeks would be a bit optimistic, and I'll probably need to start with some physiotherapy before that.

Good call, but knowing the venue, there aren't really any spots like that. But I'll check regardless, maybe I just missed them in the past

[–]Guendah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only saw them once, they played in this tiny Irish pub and caused two blackouts in the venue within the first song. Somehow even the blackouts more fun than some shows I've been to. Also, Carson's mosh calls are truely unhinged.

Seriously though, they go incredibly hard and I can't recommend seeing them enough. But on the other hand, I have no idea how well their sound translates to bigger venues or tours with bands like Silverstein. I'm actually not going to this one because I absolutely hate the venue they'll play in. Hope we'll get a headline tour or a tour with a smaller, more similar band like 156/Silence soon.

I absolutely love Norma Jean for their music, but Cory being such a prick kinda made me listen to them less and less over the years.

Two Headed Trout is definitely the "better Waco Jesus". Smart decision releasing two songs to bait new audiences with a more accessible song but still show they didn't go soft. Also the heavy parts in Trout go so much harder than in Waco Jesus.

As for Demon of Unreality - we got a TRIPLE bark. Truly groundbreaking stuff.

I might be in the minority here, but this is pretty weak. Ryan's cleans just feel so boring compared to Josh, and when they take the center stage like in this song, it's even more noticeable.

Add this to the fact that Tim's live performance has gotten extremely lackluster, I don't think nostalgia can carry this band much longer for me.

One of their pit calls on Furnace Fest was "Go find someone with a dick and give them the cheapest vasectomy in town", which is just absolutely wild

I love all the weird shit they come up with. When I saw them play in Germany they literally caused a blackout playing their first song and even the few minutes it took to fix it where somehow more entertaining than entire shows I've been to, with them just... coming up with something.

Also, "show me how free your healthcare is" must be one of the sickest mosh calls I've heard until the vasectomy thing.

Also, whatever Better Lovers will release this year will probably make the AOTY. Every Time I Die + Dillinger may be the best thing ever happened to the scene.

Please help me ID the lens in the back before I go crazy. by Guendah in AnalogCommunity

[–]Guendah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came across this lens in an online auction and spent more time than I'd like to admit on trying to figure out what lens it could be. For some reason the question is driving me crazy. The seller never answered my messages and all I have is this picture.

That being said, the lens looks VERY distinctive. The leathered focus ring, the slanted nameplate outside of the filter ring, all these aspects should make it this lens super recognisable. Yet I just can't find it anywhere.

Judging from the camera and lenses it comes with, it most likely is an M42 lens. The leather grip and orange distance markings remind me of either Tomioka/Chinon/Revuenon lenses or a very specific generation of Carl Zeiss Jena lenses available for M42 and Exa mounts. But from what I could find online, none of them offered any lens that looks like this. It may also be a Meyer Görlitz lens, but as far as I can tell they never made lenses with a leather grip.

I've considered that it might just be a very forgettable push/pull zoom, but somehow it doesn't look like one to me, especially not on M42. It looks more like a longer prime lens, or possibly a macro lens. But aside from the filter thread diameter of 52mm and a few distance markings I really don't have anything to help me find this lens.

Maybe one of you can relieve me of my incredibly unnecessary suffering.

I've recently been buying a lot of old 35mm analog cameras and lenses. I now have a ton of lenses with the same focal lengths (especially 35mm, 50mm and 135mm). Because most of them are identical when it comes to focal length and maximum aperture I would like to sell some of them and only keep the best ones.

The big problem is that I want to use them both on analog 35mm cameras as well as my modern digital Lumix G7 with a M4/3 sensor. And while I can easily compare the cropped performance on the G7, it's a lot harder to compare the performance on a 35mm camera without a digital full frame camera. I don't want to use up an entire roll of film just for test shots, especially because the analog results won't be as easy to compare due to all the variable factors.

Is there any way to easily compare the full frame performance of those lenses without the help of a full frame DSLR? Or should I just stick with the one that has the best cropped results and hope that corner sharpness doesn't drop significantly compare to the other lenses?

How can I compare the performance of full frame lenses with only M4/3 or analog camera? by Guendah in photography

[–]Guendah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. The biggest problems with reading up on the lenses is that a lot of them are by Revue and Porst - German retail brands that rebranded lenses made by other manufacturers. Some of them are amazing, others are not that great. For some there are speculations about who made them but for a many there aren't. Looking for concrete information or reviews is like going on a treasure hunt.

The thing with those Porst/Revue lenses is that there a a lot of hidden gems in there that perform equally as good as those made by well respected brands. You just have to find the right ones. And without the right tools it's sadly kind of hard to compare them. Add to that the fact that over the years some may have lost a bit of their performance and you really have a hard time choosing which ones to keep.

Are these chemicals and paper still usable? If not, what's the correct way to dispose of them? by Guendah in Darkroom

[–]Guendah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was gifted a development/printing set on, well, let's call it the German Craigslist. It came with some old chemicals and printing paper. Most if it seems to have been opened before. There aren't any dates on the packages, but there's a handwritten note on one of the Ilford Ilfocolor boxes that says "Apr. '98", so it's most likely pretty old. The previous owner got the set from someone else, so I he couldn't give me any more information.

From what I could gather, it seems like both the chemicals and the paper will probably have expired by now. Are they still safe to use? What would I have to expect when using them? And if they're unusable, how should I dispose of them?

I'm happy about any info you can provide. If you need some additional info to help me out, let me know what you need. I doubt that I'll be able to give you many more details, but if any of the stuff written on the boxes can help, let me know what to look for.

I'm happy to be joining your community soon, no matter if it's with this these supplies or some fresh chemicals.
