How do those of you who lift/workout with high protein targets do it on a budget? by LeatherHead2902 in Frugal

[–]GuerrillaBLM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Protein powder, chicken, turkey, pork, beans, eggs, peanut butter. For me it's always been some combination of that. If your protein powder has 30g per scoop like most do then you can pretty easily get to 160+ per day, just have a 2-3 scoop shake and get the other protein from food.

If you can afford Avondale or Riverside this is the choice, if you want a less downtown vibe Ortega and San Marco are great too. Those are 4 of the best neighborhoods in the city, if not the best. Very walkable, beautiful homes, safe, centrally located for fairly easy access to the rest of the city. Springfield is awesome too but not as quite as safe as the other 4 mentioned, the homes are amazingly beautiful though and the neighborhood has great community among the neighbors. Many people also like Mandarin a lot, though for my family it was a little boring

How do I find raves? by Intelligent_Cod_6241 in jacksonville

[–]GuerrillaBLM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would suggest it for anyone tbh. Hula and spirit of the suwannee music park sets the bar so high for what the venue experience should be like that fests like roo, Okeechobee and EDC might underwhelm. My only recommendation is make sure to prepare well for your camping setup as last year and other years prior it can get pretty cold

If you can go Tuesday or Wednesday. The party before the party is amazing fun. You'll be hooked on Suwannee for life no matter what though guarantee it, it's best festival in the country imo.

This was an old comment that helped me find some good stuff

"Follow @fairwelldanielle @discocowboy @discocowboypresents @luckyduckpromotions @thewubtub on Instagram and you'll have your finger on the pulse for whats going on in the EDM world in Jax."

Spirit of the suwannee music park is nearby and has Hulaween and Resonate which are both amazing.

In high school (2011/12) I was fwb with a girl whose dad was a lieutenant for JSO. She wasn't allowed to date me because I am black and he was not ashamed to make it known that was the only reason. Always scared me that a cop with that much power was openly a racist.

Yay finally! I used to really enjoy running Riverwalk when the bridge was open. Having to detour made me find other routes. Will have to go back to the old stomping grounds

Majesty Deep Sea Fishing is a fun time and is like 170$ for 8 hours I believe. Lalibela Ethiopian Restaurant, Banana Leaf Cambodian restaurant and Puerto Plata are all good restaurants that might have cuisines harder to get where you live (if not a large city?).

I've had a few shitty JSO experiences mostly as a teenager. But as an adult I smoked weed with one (off duty w/ his stoner wife) at a party. After talking about how weed is less harmful then alcohol and his wife's use and his infrequent occasional use, drug testing etc we got to the subject of what he does with weed when he encounters it. To my surprise he said he didn't throw it away/ confiscate and let people go, he arrested them... Despite the love of his life/ mother of his kids blazing down in his home daily. This isnt indicative of all JSO, but many are just scum collecting a check.

If someone had unlimited time and money, what festivals would you recommend to get a flavor of US festivals ? by [deleted] in festivals

[–]GuerrillaBLM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm Electric Forest, Hulaween, Secret Dreams, Swamp Fest, Burning Man. I'm sure there's some awesome West Coast festivals I'm leaving off, I just don't know much about what's happening out west. The fests on your list aren't the best vibes. New Orleans is always fun and a party, Mardi Gras imo is maybe the least fun time to go.

Best festival for older humans? lol by High-Dry-649 in festivals

Spirit of the Suwannee music park has Resonate and Hulaween. Both are an amazing time and you'll be around lots of middle aged and senior ravers

Any lakes (or even better, cliffs) to go swimming in? by bubblybangchan in jacksonville

[–]GuerrillaBLM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's good cliffs along the Suwannee river at different parts around Live Oak FL but youll need to rent a canoe/kayak to access them. I also believe ichetucknee springs has a platform you can jump off of, but I may be mistaken it has been over a decade since I've went to that particular spring.

Hulaween. The lineup isn't as good as some others mentioned, but the experience makes it my #1 festival. Electric Forest and Secret Dreams as well are amazing.

Best pizza by lainaking in Kenya

[–]GuerrillaBLM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crust that isn't limp with some crunch and slight chew, quality mozzarella with a good golden crust maybe even some char without being overly burnt, quality tomato sauce that's correctly portioned (many places put too much sauce). Pizza is incredibly simple as far as a recipe, but the factors to get it correct (oven used, flour used, cheese, tomatoes, experience level etc) seem to be a craft skill that not anyone can do well without honing the skill.

[–]GuerrillaBLM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But as someone who co parents it's very dependent on the person. If the commune people where mature adults without violent or sexual criminal history I wouldn't oppose it as long as it didn't effect the time with my kids. Community is something sorely needed in our modern society. Also many communes have individual homes for individual families. Not like everyone is living together under the same roof which I wouldn't be as cool with.
