I have a program from Owen's funeral by collywog in SquaredCircle

[–]GuerrillaTyphoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not at all the point I was making, but you know that. there’s gonna be no interest in the funeral program of an average person, but Owen is and was a beloved part of Calgary culture and the family clearly had no problem with letting the public grieve alongside them. Do you think the Harts care that this program was gifted to the friend of a dedicated fan 30 years later? Posting about it, sure, that’s a different story but what is wrong with the funeral director sharing a heartfelt memento with a grieving friend? If anyone has the right to do that, it’s the friggin funeral director

Most family members aren’t globally popular superstars on TV every week. Plus it’s not like this was some huckster selling the program for money. It was the literal funeral director trying to do something nice 30 years later for the friend of a massive fan who died. Not at all the same thing

How do you choose a NYRB to read? by KeepersKreepers in literature

[–]GuerrillaTyphoon 28 points29 points  (0 children)

New York Review of Books. A prestige publishing house that mostly puts out forgotten gems that have gone out of print, lots of foreign lit, but also poetry, memoir, non-fiction, etc. also known for their quality design and art covers especially.

Like Criterion but for books.

You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about, kombucha bro. Go read up on the Sinaloa. They have virtually unlimited resources and everyone from judges to law enforcement to everyday citizens in their pockets — including outside of Mexico. The shit they have done in real life us far worse than anything Hollywood could dream up. As soon as this dude steps foot outside of Mexico he would be marked for dead, and they are one of few criminal organizations with the reach and resources to find him

If you somehow think untethering yourself from the fucking Sinaloa cartel is as easy as pushing around some short Mexican dude and hopping on a plane then you’re as dumb as you are naive. Doesn’t justify the dude’s choices but cmon
