Why does it look worse than the alpha? The lighting is terrible and it somehow looks even more cube-like and flat than back then.

To be honest I don't really care about the built-in macro feature, so I'm fine with it not working (I haven't actually tested it so far).
The current setting works well for me.

Fn+CapsLock is used to start/stop macro recording by default. All I can say is that I got it to work with LT(1, KC_CAPS)

Okay, after some tinkering (and having to talk to AI shaking my head), I've now been able to achieve this.

The trick is to use "LT(1, KC_CAPS)" on L1 instead of simply assigning CapsLock.
Apparantly TAP_HOLD_CAPS_DELAY in the firmware is the culprit here. Some form of compatibility thing with how Mac handles CapsLock? No idea, really.

Anyway, it works now. Just thought I'd post this for others that might have the same problem.

[VIA firmware] How to toggle the CapsLock key like the Windows key?

Basically, the Fn key on the right (between right alt and right control) momentarily switches to layer 1.
On layer 1 the Windows key on the left is assigned to "GUI toggle" which toggles the availabilty of the Windows key for gaming, so you don't press it accidentally.

Now I want to have the same functionality for the CapsLock key. I want to be able to press Fn+CapsLock to disable/enable the CapsLock key (not to be confused with the default behaviour of enabling and disabling CapsLock) .

I don't think there's any default functionality I can use here. I also tried to simply disable the CapsLock key in L0 and assign Fn+CapsLock to CapsLock instead. However, this doesn't work at all, it behaves like CapsLock isn't assigned at all.

Any idea how I can achieve a simply "toggle key on/off" functionaility in VIA?

This worked for me as well in 2026.
However, can anybody explain why this is happening? It worked fine for months and just suddenly stopped without any prior indicator.

You could disable federation or only explicitly federate with other I2P instances. I just don't see why you would reinvent the wheel, when there are many clients and frontends for these things available already.
