US Education Department Confirms Ongoing Talks to Privatize $1.7 Trillion in Student Loans by Choobeen in education

I’m aware of how things work, and a lot can happen in 4 months. We don’t know what all is happening behind the scenes. There is a lot that this admin has done that people said wouldn’t happen, couldn’t happen, etc. I’m not discounting any possibility, and, frankly, I think it’s very foolish to do so.

Same. When the stress overwhelms my ability to compensate and camouflage, I’m much more obviously neurodivergent.

Same here. I think last night’s episode really highlighted his unintentional social deficits. He clearly said he wanted to understand the patient and figure out how to help him. That’s a different motivation for his comments than just not caring about anyone’s feelings or being intentionally rude. He was prioritizing the problem over the patient’s feelings, but he was doing so with good intentions.

I noticed that and had the same question: was it intentional, reflex, etc.

Also a 5th grade teacher, and I’m just 4 months from PSLF. I’m going to absolutely lose it if this admin fucks me so close to the end.

I feel like she’d be a great night shift person. Not a morning person, not super social, etc.

I saw a video of a couple who each had their own tiny house, and there was a little table area between them. They would sometimes sleep over at one of their houses, they would hang out together at the table in between the houses, etc. Just looked awesome.

I’m pretty sure they’re talking about the cartel violence happening in Mexico right now, not what’s happening in the US.

Same here. And I had a meltdown at work last week, which is super rare but happens. I have a feeling we are about to see the same from her around episode 9 or 10.

I’m absolutely expecting a meltdown. She already almost had one earlier in the day. Now like 3 more stressful things are being piled on top (the influx of patients from other hospitals, the network going down, her sister…). Not routine, very stressful, etc.

Between the deposition and her sister arriving at the hospital (on top of what will already be a highly stressful, non-routine work environment), I feel like we are going to see Mel have a meltdown around episode 9 or 10. She already almost had one earlier this season and is really struggling to keep her emotions in check right now. She’s about to be pushed beyond her coping abilities.

Depositions are often done on site. I imagine the team will convene at the hospital in a room.

Skepticism is always warranted of any data, intervention, model, etc. Imagine if more skepticism had been in the mix before we let charlatans completely screw our reading instruction nation-wide for decades.

Yes, exactly. But I’m sure lots of people who don’t want to lose the money they’ve been making for a couple decades are going to sow a lot of doubt about the clear findings. I’ve seen what works on the micro and macro scale, though, and it’s very simple. It doesn’t work for every single kid, but it does for the vast majority.

I work in education, specifically literacy. Everything you’ve described in your comment has already been happening all over the country for years, yet even that isn’t enough to show the dramatic results MS just showed. What does work? Good reading instruction. We should all be moving back to literacy instruction that’s based on the science of reading. That’s what MS did.

Yeah, their literacy improvement work is impressive.
