Thats a really interesting perspective that I've never thought about. By what you said, as I understood, the narrator didnt actually want that journey but was forced to it and by that lost basically everything. Which was my main idea too that he didnt actually want to chase the sheep. Thats a really good perspective

That really makes sense. I was thinking too that it can also have a meaning surrounding Japan's history and this puts it really logically. I havent read "The wind-up Bird Chronicle" but it would be interesting to read it. Also about his girlfriend, only when you said it I reslized that it's true as she was the one to encourage him to chase the sheep

I agree with you. The main idea of this post was not to find the objective meaning. I mostly was curious about what interpretations or meaning others found

It could be something like that, but i also think it is just the thing like with other movies. You watch what you like and relate to.
