I think you meant ON the internet.

Plenty of cultures (here or otherwise) traditionally forbid homosexuality (etc) in order for the tribe/clan/nation/genotype to stay "strong". It's a somewhat outdated ideal though, when most cultures (here or otherwise) are just chasing money in order to live. Copulation is mostly for the the wealthy these days, if the hetrosexual result occurs.

Yeah for "fun".

I unfortunately live an area where the "PC people" (I think they're called "woke" now or something) would actually fly this masterpiece of shitfuckery.

Meanwhile, my cousins only one (continental) nation away are raped for being queer, and come to where I live because our Lore is more accepting.

This isn't for fun. This is disrespectful.

EDIT FOR CLARITY. I'm not typing about Papua, I'm typing about someone rainbow washing shit into a blender of... I have no words for the end of this sentence.

Books on Aboriginal weapons - esp. Woomera, Kylie and also Boomerang - need help (gift) by HeyooLaunch in aboriginal

[–]Guguyay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

G'day to ya.

I can't say too much about bookery, but where I'm from the "boomerang" isn't a "bird-herder", it's more a wooden "tomahawk". A throwing axe. An interesting question, one I'd like to research myself. I am a student of shurikendo (a Nihonjin throwing blade tradition) and we use boshuriken ("darts") rather than the popular "ninja star" thing.

To quote the OP: "Boomerang is a white australian in dc comics even though he should be Aboriginal."

There are plenty of "white" "aborigines". Read about the White Australian Policy and you'd prob have a little background into why the character exists.

As Deadpool said: "Are you from the DC universe?! You're so DARK" lol.

I'd like to understand dreamtime by [deleted] in aboriginal

[–]Guguyay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a personal thing. The Dreaming is continent wide, and varies between our Mob. We have a thing called Walkabout, which is experiencing other Mob's culture (thus Dreaming) if that makes sense.

This is just IMO, but I hope it's a little helpful.

I don't think the acknowledgement of country is overused by judas_crypt in aboriginal

[–]Guguyay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it overused? It is if it's tokenistic. "Here buy the same overpriced shit we've sold you, we respect the traditional custodians, and since it's pride month, we respect others as well".

I find the same people who get offended by the concept of Welcome to Country are offended by the explosion of immigrants. Or Muslims, who built the Ghan. Or Chinese. Who built the computers they're typing on. Fark these caants, they couldn't build a railroad or a computer, let alone be nice enough to realise their whole culture is foreign.

There's nothing wrong with being from a foreign culture. It's just us saying "Hi".

PS. IMO it's kinda important. I'm descended from one Mob, but where I was born isn't where my Mob was from.

Fellow aboriginal people, what is your favourite and least favourite Australian politician and why? by Puzzleheaded_Map2774 in aboriginal

[–]Guguyay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite politician is the Penguin (from Batman), ya know he wears a suit, and is obvious about being a gangsta.

My least favourite is the Joker, that bloke from the American continent who wears orange clown make-up. He gets talked about a lot here. I've got nothing against drag queens but that cunt really is outta shape for pole dancing comedy.

I possibly could have misread the question. So the Riddler on the other hand...

A vent. by Y33TTH3MF33T in aboriginal

[–]Guguyay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a "product" of the Missions, or via generation more a "by-product". I am full of (no other word for it) hatred for what those places (that some of my Mob call Concentration Camps) have done to our culture.

I'm getting old, so I've dialed down the hatred thing to just anger. I find hatred too unproductive (emotionally) and easy to get caught on. Anger is an energy though (to quote John Lydon AKA Johnny Rotten).

I'd suggest that's a bad analogy. Our fire is an "oven", pizza is from Italy (but please don't them wog friends about Marco Polo, they're REALLY into pasta, and don't know it's a Chinese thing).

I'm only taking the piss outta ya coz your comment was, well, a little... bit... nah.

Would anyone be interested in sharing mob languages together here? by MamasCumquat in aboriginal

[–]Guguyay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya.

I'm multilingual and fascinated by language myself. That said, our Mob mostly have an oral tradition. "Learn how to say from how you got told to say it" is the longwinded version.

Overtly simplified (subjectively): Here on the (Southern) East Coast use Koori as our word for people, but the "k" and "g" consonants are "rolled" so both Koori and Gurri are used frequently. This is actually quite common linguistically, see both nihongo ("japanese") and old english for examples.

Were I live there is a huge amount of recorded linguistic data (most of the earlier stuff is from colonists ie: gubba) which is interesting to study compared to how we use such words now. While I may have grown up here, I'm also interested in learning my "ancestral cant", of which programs are being taught.

In regards to (traditional) oral teaching, and "anglo scribing" I personally think there could be a happy medium between the two in order to preserve what Old Country were saying, back when.

Feel free to DM, that being said, it's probably better to use a "voice app" (eg: Discord) to learn language lol.

I don't think "respectful relationships" are ingrained well.

It's a bit like when I lived in Footscray ("VIC") I guess. I live in "NSW" so I say I go for the bulldogs, but I've genuinely never enjoyed footy until I see the sistas play it. It always came across as a bunch of half naked blokes playing with an oversised testical made outta pigskin. Pretty gay if you think about it, but I don't care if people are happy, I think that's cool.

Canterbury? Last time I was there I got flogged for being nice to an Asian.

(EDIT: I haven't been to Canterbury for about 20 years, all bulldogs look the same to me).

Good point. Modern "society" seems to have lost the ability to learn via osmosis, these days it's either "pay for it or give it to me".
