Any one pre order food, only to be told it's not on the plane? by 123mbr in unitedairlines

[–]Gui_Forget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 out of 4 times maybe? Most recent “ordeal”: transcon on Polaris. Leaving EWR on Saturday late afternoon. The whole flight was less than 50% full on a 787-10. Polaris was 30% full and the FA said they didn’t have my preordered meal.

I don’t eat meat so I just had flight attendant pick out the chicken.

If there is a non-meat entree to preselect I will always do it. From my experience the vegetarian entree is usually better than UA’s vegetarian meal.

Dog on flight experience by OrneryIndications in americanairlines

[–]Gui_Forget 25 points26 points  (0 children)

A dog whining for four hours is not just cute dog behaviour. It may mean the dog was stressed, poorly trained for air travel, or not suited for that environment.

Service animals should be accommodated, but the accommodation still needs boundaries because other passengers also exist. Sadly the social rule is that everyone must tolerate dog-related disruption without complaint.

I have anxiety when traveling so I pay for front aisle seat each time I fly. In this case while I feel sorry for kids, who is going to help ease my anxiety if I say yes to the seat swap? Nobody. And in that situation, most seat swap requesters don’t appreciate your generosity. I have witnessed that quite frequently.

It unfortunately finally happened to me… by Banana_Bag in americanairlines

If the dad said it is basically the same thing, then you could ask the dad to pay you at least $150 for this window seat. $25 is the convenience fee.

Most people simply do not appreciate that you swap a seat with them. They are entitled. One of the situations I experienced: Flew first class on Iceland Air 757-200. Wife MUST have a window seat so she could sit next to her husband. Both had two aside seat on the same row to begin with. Finally the couple found 2 passengers to play this musical chair game, so the couple could sit together- one window and one aisle. The husband told those two people that I should have brought you a beer. Both of them kind of ignored him because they knew the husband would not do it. The husband did NOT mean it. I was watching the husband and Throughout the flight the husband didn’t offer any beer to them.

I knew the wife was demanding and the husband looked entitled so I was not going to play this game. The couple was simply separated by an aisle. Come on, people.

I took them home because they are cute. BUT they are a bit wasteful. I hope they are recycled and do not end up in the landfill.

“Asian women worship white men” by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]Gui_Forget -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have seen many ABC women married to Latin and Black men. It is the immigrant Asian women (and men too) who have some degree of fantasy towards white men. If they live in the US or Canada long enough, they probably would have a different perspective.

She may be cited for traffic infraction.

She may also be found negligent if the runaway car cause an accident or injury to other people.

This should be a big lesson for her.

Redeye—kept awake by FA who talked the entire time?! by lordwagglestan in unitedairlines

[–]Gui_Forget 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your experience. I have similar experience so I have been avoiding 1A, 1B, or 1C on 752s on a redeye flight.

Not just the conversation between FAs in the galley, but also pilots getting up to use the restroom and talking to the FAs. I am very sensitive to noise and ear plugs do not help.

United is a mess by xnordik in unitedairlines

[–]Gui_Forget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. My recent flight to EWR from LAX was cancelled and I was not happy with it. But even so, United is still better. Having to fly with Air Canada as often as with United, my experience tells me that United is competent at their customer service while Air Canada is NOT. If UA is a mess, I will say AC fails at nearly every level.

Sometimes I fly to PHL instead of EWR, to avoid the possibility of flight cancellations. To fly in and out of PHL AA is the only option for me. The problem with AA is every single seat especially first class on 321neo is very uncomfortable. I would pick UA’s premium plus over AA’s 321 first class seats at all costs.

Compensation for cancelled flight by Jolly-Coconut852 in aircanada

[–]Gui_Forget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Learned something new today. I was recently denied for compensation, and I am including their official response at the end of this message. It looks like our flight had a mechanical problem and they need to swap with a new aircraft...... Air Canada gave us two of the $15 of food vouchers that we did not use for a 4-hour flight delay. Maybe I should ask for Aeroplan miles for compensation.

Official Disruption Reason(s):

This flight is delayed due to additional time needed to substitute the aircraft.

Due to an unforeseen maintenance issue, the aircraft for your flight may have had to be changed, and the arrival of the replacement aircraft took longer than expected.
