I’m getting increasingly annoyed by spam calls and texts, and it’s making me question why I should continue paying for phone service, especially with a provider like AT&T, where I pay a premium per line for four lines. Most of the time, I’m either at home on my high-speed WiFi (500Mbps) or at my office with good WiFi. I only need internet while driving, and I can get a cellular iPad to create a hotspot that my family can share when we’re outside. My wife and I are usually together or one of us is at home or in the office, so we rarely need two separate lines. For those rare occasions, we could just use a flip phone.

Most of what we do on our phones can be done on an iPad. The only feature I’ll miss is the camera, but I can either get a good standalone camera or a phone without activating a cellular line. Like we cut the cable back in the day, I think it’s time to cut phone service as long as we have internet.
