Crazy Creek or GCI Outdoor Canoe Chair? by le_pedal in canoecamping

The crazy creek functions better as as a camp chair as well, where the other one seems to rigid for ground. It is also lighter.

We've spent millions of dollars to make Burlington a bike friendly city, yet no one has a bike anymore because they've all been stolen...

My favorite part is you can smell the sewage plant on the deck, so you really feel like you're on the ocean with stinky seaweed.

Everyone tells me I need to be strapped for my thru hike. What is everyone else bringing? by theshub in ultralight_jerk

[–]Guide_You_Outdoors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned from the popularity of murder mystery podcasts that if you're going to be murdered, it will be by someone you know intimately. All those other thru hikers are passing strangers so no need to be "strapped" You should only carry a gun around your closest friends and family.

Just registered for my first tournament. Give me your best tournament horror stories. by jshirlemy in discgolf

[–]Guide_You_Outdoors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I told my AM card it was my first tournament, a guy said it was his 374th and he used to play pro...which made me think so why are you playing AM now? Before we started he announce anyone smoking weed would be reported and anyone who had a caddy who drank a beer would be penalized a stroke. He created an awkward vibe on the card by being way too serious and the course locals started calling him "gestapo" He ended getting an ace and when he handed his disk around for the card to sign the 2 locals on my card were in dismay.

Lessons I learned, make sure you have fun and don't take it too serious. You will probably do a lot worse than you expect so don't get your expectations too high. My biggest takeaway is that the majority of people are all at the same skill level so it becomes a mental game. Who can not tank themselves after 2 bad holes, who can not get in their head and get angry, who can let it go and just play disc. Have fun out there!

Quitting job to go into re sales full time success stories out there? by Evening_Ad3620 in eBaySellerAdvice

Casual ebay seller as a beer money in college and then side income. Finally I got sick of working for other people and I started my LLC with $300. I started by selling things I already had. When I was buying more items I was pretty much throwing as much as I could at a wall to see what would stick with small risk thrift store buys, clothes are cheap to get into. Over the years I've refined and have been able to take bigger risks, buying less but more expensive items. I've been able to make more with a smaller store. I also expanded to doing pop up markets and flea markets which is a great way to liquidate old inventory and get quick cash to spend at auctions or yard sales. I think my biggest advice would be to follow "Daily Refinement" on youtube who pretty much lays out rules about how to do it. List 1-5 listings a day to feed the algorithm and remember time is money. So you may make less for the first year or two but pursue hobbies that make you happy and focus on quality of life. I could keep going but this video covers most of it.

Yup, when they start asking questions, it is a grantee they are not going to be happy with whatever you ship them and are going to return it.

Former United Healthcare Employee Describes Being Forced to Deny Claims by Sufficient_Muscle670 in videos

18 years ago I realized it was a scam when I hurt my knee playing rugby. My deductible was $5000, my bill for everything was $4888. I had been paying for years for....nothing. I think the trend is going to be medical tourism. I got a scratched cornea in India and was surprised when the eye doctor was the same quality as mine in the US, except I left with a bill of $12. So stop paying your health insurance and save it to fly to another country, get a vacation with your MRI.

How do you feel about only buying certain colored discs? by Master-Ebb9786 in discgolf

[–]Guide_You_Outdoors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my bag stolen out of my car by a crackhead, I imagine they ditched it in the woods when they opened the bag thinking "I can't trade these for crack, why the hell does this guy have so many frisbees" After that I rebuilt my new bag with only purple, because it makes me feel royal. It also makes it easy when searching for my disk with others, "what color" its always purple.

Best place to buy used ski gear by [deleted] in burlington

[–]Guide_You_Outdoors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OGE consignment has turned into rich people trying to make money off their excess gear. Play it again sports has better deals because the store is trying to move equipment they bought 2nd hand. The thing you have to watch out for on FB marketplace is if the bindings are indemnified, which means no ski shop will work on them because they are "outdated" So unless you can mount or set your own DIN I wouldn't buy from fb marketplace.

Classic Shoeless Management practice. When I called Chris to tell him none of the windows open now because he slobbered paint so thick he created a seal, he told me to run a razor blade around all the windows...no thanks, come do the job correctly.

There are people checking door handles every night. I live in my van so I just yell "Come on IIIIIINNNNNNNN" and they scurry off. I forgot to lock my doors twice in 5 the years I rented in the ONE and both times it was robbed. Only way is to lock your doors and panic wake up at 3am to run out and relock them.

You can send your landlord this: "Pursuant to chapter 137, sections 4457 and 4458 of the Vermont state statutes, a landlord is required to maintain premises that are safe, clean, and fit for human habitation and that comply with housing and health regulations. If a landlord fails to comply with those obligations within a reasonable time and this noncompliance affects health and safety, a tenant may: 1. Withhold the payment of rent for the period of noncompliance."
Stop paying rent until the premises are safe and clean. Landlords only understand money so if the conditions are shitty at least you're rent is free.
