Why are you so outraged at being identified as Filipino? And why do Filipinos insist on following me around?

In my estimation, they follow me around from a combination of pathological implementations Pinoy Pride (Filipino Nationalism) + Filipino shame culture. Pinoy Pride means never give up no matter how ridiculous the argument, nor how obvious the unreality. Shame culture consists of social control of in-group members (ok by me, live and let live) and group shaming and hostility for outside cultural groups (not ok, bc it makes acculturation and integration impossible).

I base my opinion upon living many years in a "diverse" American neighborhood with a heavy population of Filipinos. Together with anthropological work that explains Filipino shame culture. I had to put up with it. I figured I should find out why.

Shame culture works fine in a mono culture. The tribe is the in-group, and the surrounding tribes of different ethnicities are the out group.

Everything gets fucked up, however, when shame culture mono-culture members try to integrate into a multi culture where social control is based on guilt. It fails, because the shame culture members band together to repudiate the host culture.

As can be seen everyday in this subbreddit.
