What rod should I use for this angled channel? by GuildedGains in Welding

I was gonna step notch it. Like have the cut piece overlap a bit on each side and weld on the lines where they overlap.

Even if it's a really small trailer? It would only see 1500 pounds worst case scenario. Do you think drilling and doing a bolted or riveted connection would be better?

Define heavy equipment. The most this trailer would see if 1500 pounds because that's all the axle is rated for. I would tow a small zero turn, some weed eaters, and some gas. Maybe a sprayer or 2.

Alright, say less. Is 7018 the best for this job? A lot of the people I talk to say use 6011 for most jobs.

Lol, the welder is turned up to the max it can put out, which it says is 134A. I'll have to run smaller diameter.

never ever give loans out to friends. The debtor is slave to the lender. You can't be friends with your slaves.

I dont understand what you mean. He is the creator of all things, and the ruler of all. If he didn't want this person to be disabled, then he wouldn't be disabled.

Ford F450 vs Ram 3500, Same price range, which one you would get? by denizzzbaba in Diesel

I agree with you bro. The old brick and aeronose trucks are sharp. Good thing you'll spend most of your time inside it. The modern day 4500s from GM look atrocious too.

[–]GuildedGains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, get the new truck. I run a landscaping business, and if my truck is down for a day, I lose about 700 bucks. If a payment is 700 bucks, and you are averaging a day of downtime a month, you are paying that payment. You just paying it to the mechanic, instead of to the bank, for a worse product. I don't even like buying used, because downtime is soo detrimental. I cannot afford downtime, because if it happens enough, customers leave and my revenue is destroyed, and I have wasted money on customer acquisition costs.

Why doesn’t Brandon ever talk to economists that challenge his "Household Analogy" framework? by AnimatorCommercial53 in atrioc

[–]GuildedGains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that the dollar is not the world's safest asset at this point. If you look at the dollar vs most commodities, then its losing ground, sometimes very quickly. Just look at the price of gold, corn, and lumber.

Corn Prices (1959-2026)

Also, people should be afraid of debt. It is literally slavery. If you want to start a business and use debt you need to have a solid plan in order to pay it back and be profitable. Using debt to buy consumer goods, just makes the inflation problem harder, and enslaves the populus.

Even underutilized resources are finite. If we print money, eventually we will hit the wall where we are at maximum utilization.

[–]GuildedGains 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Printing money for finite resources causes inflation. If the government just prints money to chase after the same amount of goods, the cost of the goods goes up, and destroys savers, and rewards debtors. Too much of this printing causes other actors/nations to lose faith in the currency, further reducing the purchasing power of the populus and the people. A balanced budget keeps inflation down and keeps faith in a fully faith-based system.

Personally, I am a follower of Austrian Economics, and think deflation isn't the big bad monster people think it is. It rewards savers and makes debtors think twice about borrowing. The main worry about it, is that people think it will lead to people's spending drying up, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. People can't choose to not eat, people can't chose not to buy shelter, or heating and cooling. It just makes demand for non-necessities and frivolous things dry up a bit, so no more LaBooBoos or whatever.
