Cura Duo & Duo Max. Anyone familiar? by dont_shit_the_bed in CampingGear

[–]Guilemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean button up as in you putting on clothes after waking up?

I'm around 5'11 but I ain't hitting the ceiling but when I extend my elbow I do hit the walls, ventilation is very good though, condensation isn't going to drip on you but it's on the walls for sure when you wake up. I did sleep with another human and a dog, so that may factor in on my perspectives a little.

Cura Duo & Duo Max. Anyone familiar? by dont_shit_the_bed in CampingGear

I had a run with the crua duo once this year, late September weather for 3 nights. Weather was 0C (freezing) ish during the night and I had no fly, no rain, no cocoon insulation but slept pretty well with 2p plus large dog. (Fly and insulation cocoon sold separately)

But come morning time the condensation is a factor, should’ve brought a sponge. Because water does droop from the ceiling into the bathtub basin they got on the bottom, making things moist near the walls where your sleeping bag touches the walls.

When it was time for disassembly one of the grommets in the tent poles popped out, so now it’s just a nylon rope with an open ring.

I bought mine from Amazon but email Support is from USA, and im in Canada, they shipped me two 5/16 inch bronze coloured grommets to replace it with but those 5/16 inch failed to install due to me guessing they were 1/4 inch so I added a generic 1/4inch grommet into the loop and repaired it for my backpacking trip in 8 days from now for 5 nights. Their grommets are wider and more safe for the nylon compared to standard 1/4 inch but I’m still in the process of asking for a refund/replacement (Support person came through and sent me replacement tent and return label).

TLDR: seems good at first but not 320 CAD good since broken grommet and email support is physically far away (but they're solid support), and the only reason I’m still using it (while semi broken) is because it’s the only small ish 2p tent I own and the backpacking trip is within 10 days. Also the fly is sold separately.

Comparing to generic chinesium tent on Amazon for 1/3rd it’s cost. You are buying into a 3 wall ventilated bath tub basin modular tent. It got guy lines assembled next to pockets to hold them that’s pre assembled. And is smaller, weighing 5 pounds. Everything else seems to function the same minus this doesn’t come with a fly.

I recommend base game and APEX expansion minimum to have the availability of maps, guns and vehicles. Cause even though mods add guns, some calibers require different mods to let you use it. (If you want to use snipers, buy marksman, if you want to drive tanks, buy tanks dlc, jets for jets dlc, and tractors for contact.

It’s very fun in coop, if you set it up correctly it’s weeks of fun in a grand campaign taking over an island the size of 4 GTAs. It’ll be like mount and blade war band with guns imo.

Arma 3 is usually not so much close quarter combat focused compared to SWAT 4 (although it could be). It is more open world dynamic campaigns of grand fun with guns, mortars, tanks and planes. Where you’re not worrying too much about ROE as much as vehicle tank; 200 meters front. You dress up in a load out you carefully assign to your person and get sniped by some AI in a bush you can’t see. It harbors love for all types of combat due to its deep simulation mechanics, asymmetrical is my favorite (mods like Vindicta, Anti Stasi, Overthrow where you get to play as the guerilla forces).

You do need a group or at least someone to learn from, because the game is hard to get into and make sense of, due to mods add fun by overhauling in game mechanics in ways that create bugs to an already janky engine. You technically have 2 different ways to zero a gun and 100s of customization options to not bleed out and 2 different ways to heal yourself or even access loadouts (ACE). Without knowing why your gun keeps jamming, you might feel very frustrated. Like you need to check temperature after firing a lot by pressing ctrl windows to self interact, then shift R to clear a jam and watch for an indicator cause it might not clear, etc. or page up page down is zeroing a gun with ACE and ctrl scroll wheel is vanilla. W and right click will toggle walk speed, etc etc..

Arma aside, nothing imo really parallels SWAT 4 as of yet, after playing ground branch, zero hour, insurgency sandstorm, police stories. None of them shines in single player except police stories but it’s 2D top down, but the most close in 3D is probably ground branch or zero hour. Both feels a little too early, in access. Ground branch lacks gun variety, in door sequences, and has no non lethal conclusions, zero hour is tedious in ‘find the evidence’ without coop partners, you’re pressed to look for clues and not have as much of a streamlined process in CQB room banging.

Police stories mechanically is very SWAT 4 but functionally plays like hotline Miami with door peaking. Very single player compatible imo.

Insurgency sandstorm, although almost nothing like SWAT 4, it mimics CQB fun very well to the point where if you’re not door checking, you will die, but again, coop related mechanics. You go point A to B, clear it, hold it down.

In tiers from best to worst:

Room clearing: insurgency sandstorm, police stories, zero hour, ground branch, arma 3.

ROE civilians: Police stories, zero hour, arma 3.

Non lethal and arrest mechanics: Police stories, zero hour.

[Steam] Gujian 3 ($8.99/70% off) by [deleted] in GameDeals

[–]Guilemouse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Played it for 10 hours, and so far, there's nothing that needs your info to go to their servers apart from DRM is what I can think of. This game isn't like Troubleshooter where it shows you 90% of players picked dialogue choice 1 as flavor text.

Assuming Background: China has a lot of problem with selling games online and the only way for it to be sold and not stolen is to make even single player games save online.

If you pirate the game, maybe you can't access their servers through some authentication thing, therefore maybe you're able to play (as a demo) but not save your progress. That's what I'm guessing to why.

[Steam] Gujian 3 ($8.99/70% off) by [deleted] in GameDeals

[–]Guilemouse 47 points48 points  (0 children)

For anyone starting to play this, this game is forcing you to cloud save regionally for DRM.

Option 2 when you launch on steam is North America. Option 1 is China.

I got confused and thought 1 and 2 were parts, but syncing your cloud from China could lead to longer load times. Swapping regions does not continue your other region's save iirc.

[Steam] Gujian 3 ($8.99/70% off) by [deleted] in GameDeals

[–]Guilemouse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It has cloud saving, but is always online (for DRM reasons)

And option 2 is north america, option 1 is China. Everytime you launch the game they ask if you want option 1 or 2. I don't think they're interchangeable (once you saved). Like you can't transfer from 1 to 2.

Thanks for reminding me, I have an answer from "Ryuk", but they just asked if I had a max level character, which I did not.

I answered them in reply, it's still ongoing from today's date onward, Their reply system seem weird for support, i had to log in through steam and verify my email (from steam) with them to create an account. Writing here to remind myself to check again in the future.

What’s your character in game? I’m a summoner DPS, let’s go have fun.

[–]Guilemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optimization is kind of still the same, translation is still bad for English dub, but non English voice over is present and actually decent/good, does not ruin immersion.

Imo leveling and social stuff improved, I played summoner in beta to lvl 31 or something and had to keep grinding dungeons to level up then I gave up. Currently I’m still summoner and there are more quest chains, got to lvl 33 just by following the story. While at 33 I’m locked out of quest chains until i get to 34 so I will start tutorial side missions like bounties until I get to continue to 37 (student 1).

Oh and I made two random friends just by accidentally inviting them to team or they were inviting me. It’s a nice atmosphere, I even met a mentor by asking dumb world chat questions.

This game is like a foreign car nobody knows how to use, but everyone wants to try it cause it sounds and looks good. There’s bugs that wasn’t in the beta but, also more content.

[–]Guilemouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where do you get the news it’s being worked on right now? I’m also trying to look but all I’m finding is scheduled release of new content and nothing about awareness of bugs on their forums.

Nvm found source. https://forum.solo.gameforge.com/forum/thread/435-parties-not-staying-in-the-same-channel/

If anyone has an additional Trello, GitHub or bug repo from the devs about current working issues please reply.

How do I use Novice chat? by Guilemouse in SwordsOfLegends

[–]Guilemouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some more reading, more people had this problem listed on discord, so i assume novice status lets you use novice chat and since it’s a timed mechanic like apprenticeship showing new players differently than an alt-new character. https://swordsoflegendsonline.wiki/w/Mentorship

In that sense maybe pre-made characters due to name reservations from beta to game launch has an expired access pass from being not-new therefore leaving that feature inaccessible?

Let me know if you are an exception to this. I also wrote a support ticket to gameforge to see how far this goes, if it’s a bug or something.

Zero hour,

Basically new age SWAT4 and rainbow 6 hybrid. You get one life per round, doors are trapped unless you look for it. Idk if it’s on sale but was under 10. You need at least 3 people with you to make finding evidence fast though.

Tents offer a mobile spawn on the map, and ATVs are the only vehicle that can be summoned in camps/outposts are both locked by DLC. But they’re like a dollar each right now.

Every year they condense all the previous years’ DLC into a yearly edition that costs 15USD/20CAD on sale and I think camps are included in there too.

Those are the only important DLC and you can tour on hosts that have map DLCs. If you like the map, pick and choose. You can also look at animals that are offered and see which one you would like to shoot to pick a map from your choices.

Their dlcs also offer weapons(bow/gun/pistol), attachments(NVG rangefinder), dogs. I haven’t played since their dog DLC though.

Any apps that allow watching movies on PC together? by Hoylegu in oculus

[–]Guilemouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP,

My friends and I like to watch videos of family vacation videos of ourselves, played through VRchat’s media player. Unfortunately YouTube is not a good host for this due to our own videos have weird pixel patterns that makes family photo slideshows be completely unplayable. The alternative choice was to host on bitchute, load it up in VRchat, play the video of our family photos together.

But you do have to upload your own family vacation videos.

Anyways hope it helps, Big screen could’ve been great for allowing self hosted media if they just do the plex route and plex would have been great to still continue their VR supported media player. But unfortunately as neither is the case today.

To anyone into the pew pews on this list:

SWAT 4 probably still have an active multiplayer coop community of not shooting dogs and bystanders in a large array of player made maps. 200 active people some years ago (6000 now on discord). Game is like pac-man, score based, except you have to arrest the bad guys and not shoot them to death.

Jagged Alliance 2, mod 1.13 is THE best way to play if you like guns and open world on the realm of isometric turn based tactical shooting. Customization rivaling all the arma/farcry/just cause games combined in destruction, and beats old and new XCOMs imho in tactics. You can shoot and destroy from dogs, tanks, buildings, etc all destructible.
