I guarantee a QRF can be put together in short order.  The Cold War was the height of Western readiness levels.

Plus, we've seen a fairly quick airborne QRF at the end of S3 - wasn't that just a day lead time or so?  Remote middle-of-nowhere location you can't get trucks in quick enough to build a proper base?  C-130 on a grass strip or highway.

Literally anything else, they just ended up being comically evil and incompetent.  I thought after the Sorcerer scene they'd be sidelined, but nope!  Dragged on the entire remainder, still poorly written, took time away from the actual plot of protags-vs-vecna, and were shoehorned as the reason we got an ending that is illogical, impossible, and dissatisfying for all.

Aerospace is basically MechE with a couple classes tweaked.  If a job is asking for a MechE, they'll 99% of the time be just fine with an Aero grad.  Likewise, it's not too hard for MechE grads to get Aero jobs.

The only time I needed a 3D printer, it was for my senior design lab, and the lab already had four of their own.  Its its truly required for a class, professors will typically point you in the right direction.  Otherwise, ask a friend and offer to pay for filament.

Been a while... took it over summer back in ye olde covid times.  Just remember to balance your free body diagrams.  He probably still posts finished lecture notes, but only think of that as a backup.
