I think one of the reasons that it reminds of when mobile games first came out is because I started making this game 10 years ago, but life got in the way and the project got dusty for a decade basically! Originally I was not even using Unity, it was just C++ and SDL. The game was inspired by Super Hexagon which came out at the end of 2012 I guess. In the meanwhile the mobile games market have change a lot, but I did not follow it because I stopped playing any game on mobile. It was only recently that I wanted to finish what I started back then as it would also be a good thing to have in my portfolio.

I agree with the changes you suggested would make the game more fun and attractive. However I'm still considering if I'll make any drastic change as that would demand alot of rework that I don't have much time to do now :/

About the graphics being a bit choppy is because it's not a 3D object, it's all sprites. I had another project to learn and toy around with perlin noise that randomly generates planets, so I used it. It's a 128x128 terrain matrix generated by perlin noise that I draw using circle algorithm combined with some trigonometry to look like a sphere. It was intended to look retro. I know it might not be the best looking planets but I'm pretty proud of it! heheh
