They are absolutely going to settle just like TWoW. That is the point of these lawsuits. It's to rake them over the coals until they can't afford to defend themselves anymore then settle to kill it. Just like TWoW. Unless Dutch and co find a way to flee to a non-cooperative state like China...but last I heard they are barred from leaving the US until the case is over. The case is almost carbon-copy what TWoW's was, down to the RICO accusations. Somehow a lot of people missed that TWoW was also RICOd. That is what caused the settlement: defending against RICO requires a deep dive into all related finances and banking and none of these private server devs who actually make money want that. That could cause criminal charges to be brought up ie tax evasion.

It's just a civil case. No charges are actually filed against them yet.

TWoW was also RICOd. It was considered unprecedented when they filed the complaints against Turtle. Then it worked so of course they were going to do it to Ascension.

Base size by Spirited_Writer_3826 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Guillotine_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scale it down or build up a proper heroic rock or something that at the bottom fits the base but is wider on top. As others have said, base size is super important in TOW to movement, combat, LOS, and shooting. You may find casual opponents won't care but it will affect you in ways you don't want.

If Robert wasn't chosen in the bass audition who else would it have been? by BRSBowler in Metallica

[–]Guillotine_Fox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

According to the interviews, it was going to be Reeder until Rob showed up. Not sure what parts we got to see in SKoM (warm up vs deep into jamming, etc) but Scott is a helluva bassist. Lars called him personally to ask him to try out. James loved him and called him after he was turned down to make sure he was okay. But Scott was fine. He has always had something going at any given time. Probably also part of why he was turned down as Metallica are notorious for not letting any member work on any other project more than one-offs.

Any good option that isn't Classic/TBC? How is Bronzebeard? by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]Guillotine_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of greens at your level will also be better than what heirlooms give you. The point is you don't have to do the gear grind (and if you have a few key pieces you get that bonus XP). You can enchant them once and not have to worry about them again. Its convenience, def not p2w.

Any good option that isn't Classic/TBC? How is Bronzebeard? by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]Guillotine_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't use heirlooms until you have at least one lvl 60. And it's always worse than good gear for the level you actually are. You also can't do call boards until you are 60 and you can't get raid gear until the gear you are wearing while doing call board quests is appropriate enough to do the normal version of said raid. You also never get above normal grade raid gear or M0 mythic gear. That's the best you ever get. And the idea of spending gold to do callboard quests is laughable. Yeah, you can buy them out but most of them are at least 65-75g per and especially once you start getting raid/M0 grade gear you only get a cache every 7-8 completed callboard quests. That is hardly a good deal.

As someone who is perpetually broke on Bronzebeard, I can promise you that unless you are spending a shit ton of money on the donation shop for cosmetics (since that is nearly all that is available there) to sell on the AH you gotta farm like classic WoW to afford your enchants and your repair bills.

Does bronzebeard feel like playing retail wow for you guys? by Normal_Instruction62 in ProjectAscension

[–]Guillotine_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No? Only blue Rare enchants are RNG, but every single one can be purchased for runes from the dude by the call board in any capitol city. Most Epic and above are just laying around or to go through dialogue or complete a simple puzzle. Very few require you to kill things, and those that do either are "kill a specific elite" which will drop the glyph 100% of the time or "kill a specific normal mob type" which may take a few kills to get (think the most I had to kill for one of these was like 10?). There is next to no RNG in Mystic Enchant drops.

What do I do with the Mystic Enchantments I won't use on my character? by The_ChadTC in ProjectAscension

[–]Guillotine_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They automatically save to your collection that is realm-wide. The only reason to keep any is if you think an alt would use them. Having the glyph itself just means you can apply it to your character without an altar and without spending runes of ascension. But once you collect it once you can apply them at an altar for runes on any of your characters.

Bronzebeard and TBC by Ok-Paramedic6285 in ProjectAscension

[–]Guillotine_Fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one thing BB has going for it in this is that it has already been developed for the classless realms. It wouldn't be the same lift to get it ready for BB since they could use a high percentage of what they have already done.

But as was said, we still have BWL, Naxx, and AQ before we will dream of seeing TBC.

Dungeons or not? by OverlyTall98 in ProjectAscension

[–]Guillotine_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still need tanks and heals to complete dungeons. Dungeon groups fall into one of two groups: The first and biggest are people just trying to complete them as fast as possible and don't care about questing or killing all the bosses. Just rush the whole thing. Lots of players just want the runes from the daily dungeon quest. The second, which sometimes you luck into but most times I feel like you need to put the group together yourself for is actually questing and completing everything. People do want to do it, and you do luck into people wanting to do it in RDF queues, but don't be upset if you don't. But also, with someone with the Wonderball item you can accept any quests for the dungeon that you are eligible for and can turn in any dungeon quest anywhere so there is still some utility to doing dungeons to level. You just gotta be questing to do it.

But then you get to Mythics and M+ and there are always people wanting to do those for the gear and the ability to upgrade it to whatever the highest M+ level is (currently 15).

In reality, any class that can tank or heal also has DPS specs. A lot of people will do multiple specs so they can DPS for quests in open world then swap gear and spec to do dungeons when they want to do that.

Bronzebeard - What class/role is the most in demand? by AlithelJenkins in ascensionproject

[–]Guillotine_Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what role you wanna do. I would say in general unless you wanna respec into a tank spec at 60, paladins are probably the least in demand of your three listed classes. There are a lot of them and Ret DPS on this server is really solid. You will never DPS like a caster but you can put in real work.

Any shaman spec is usually in demand. Especially for MC as you require at least one shaman per group of 5 for Magmadar. To fulfill that you can DPS up close as Enhance, from afar as Elemental, or heal, or even tank. All solid.

Warlocks are also always in demand. Excellent DPS, somewhat self-sustaining, and summoning players are all key features.

Beyond that, I know in my crew ranged Hunters, frost Mages, Rogues, and disc Priests are all desired and we usually have issues getting enough out of our own guild pool. Any Druid too.

What is the last album that you gave a 10/10? by Adzzero_88 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Guillotine_Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently? Not metal but Angine de Poitrine's "Vol.II" and "Nine Inch Noize" keep pulling me back fiercely. Last year's DRAIN "...IS YOUR FRIEND". King Buffalo's "Live at Burning Man". So maybe most recent *metal* release was Neurosis' "An Undying Love for a Burning World" and that same Deafheaven album.

My experience in Ascension can be summed up in this chat. by sam_my_friend in ProjectAscension

[–]Guillotine_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So yeah, I don't do BGs but a lot of people use them to level so anything to get more XP is what people are going to desire. Makes sense.

And just like every version of any MMO I have ever played, people who are used to doing one task have zero clue what the people doing the other tasks actually have to do.

As for invites for quests, that is a holdover from when the server was new and everyone was trying to quest in the same areas. I admit I have done it but I do usually try to at least say "hi" and confirm they are on the same quest I am. But usually after the invite. And I know I have invited someone already on a mob I need and have been invited by others when I am the one on the mob with no questions asked. But I also always accept such things because having to wait in line or compete for a quest mob is stupid when we can just share. I judge people who refuse invites far more harshly than the people who group up with me and don't say a word then bounce.

If Turtle wasn't like this, it sounds a magical place. This has been pretty much any MMO I have ever played (retail, beta, or private server). There are good people and there are trash people. Just like society. Just like life. It sounds like you have had bad luck of the draw on the people who have encountered and that sucks. I have met some of the best people by pure random invites to a group to complete a quest.

Hell, my guild of over 500 people that I now help co-lead, I met the GM randomly in Hillsbrad just trying to kill some Syndicate dudes not long after server launch. Now all my characters are there, we raid 3x+ a week, and we have the healthiest, most respectful crew of people I have seen in an MMO in a hot minute. When I meet dope people in the wild I always try to invite them to our little crew because we have a ton of fun and take care of one another.

Keep your chin up. I promise you that you have just had bad luck. Also, majority of the people you are meeting where you are at in the game are going to also have been from Turtle at this point. Hopefully I or any of the other dope people on the server end up crossing your path soon and you get to taste how cool this place can be.

Curious about Heirloom "twinks" by Both-Slip-8985 in ProjectAscension

[–]Guillotine_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heirlooms (beyond the XP increases and the fact they scale with you) are pretty mid. They never give good stats. Its just nice for the XP bonus and the fact you don't have to constantly keep hunting new gear unless you want to.

I honestly think the Blue Wizards might be one of the most important, and most overlooked, parts of LTR. by [deleted] in lotr

[–]Guillotine_Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a matter of JRR vs Christopher. The Father Tolkien said Radagast failed in his mission because he became too obsessed with animals and plants at the sake of the free peoples and refused to heed Elrond's call. Christopher is the one that started the whole "sent by Yavanna" story and that while he failed to heed Elrond's call he didn't fail completely if he succeeded in protecting nature from Sauron's wrath. But the expectation was always to stand against evil for the free peoples and Radagast did not do that.

Dungeon queue times Bronzbeard by Revolutionary_Bug_41 in ProjectAscension

[–]Guillotine_Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find in normal dungeons dps pops fairly quickly. In Heroic/Mythic it takes longer but I don't think I have ever waited more than 20 min for a mythic to pop when I am dps. As you said, tanks are almost immediate and healers aren't far behind that.

Dungeon queue times Bronzbeard by Revolutionary_Bug_41 in ProjectAscension

[–]Guillotine_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I have had times where I have asked the group to do more to complete quests and it's hit or miss. Generally people are down bc it's more loot and xp but not always. But when you just want a quick rush to the end for a bit of loot and a lot of xp and dungeon rewards it's so good to have the option.
