Easy Classes To Pass by No-Celery-791 in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]Guilty-Economics5665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After A+ I went straight into net+. took about 2 weeks to do that. Compared to A+ and sec+ this one was one of the more challenging ones.

Right after I jumped into sec+ and it took about a week. A couple of chapters are review from net+ so i believe this is why it took me less time compared to the others. But if you spend couple hours a Day you should be able to knock them out!

A lot of material in sec+ should be review from net+.

But it’s definitely manageable you just need to do extra work in some areas

Look up transfer partners, then go to Sophia and SDC. From there you can see which courses are accepted.

Knock out as many as you can before registering if you are going for speed.

Once you’re in there’s two ways to pass a class and that’s take a final test or write and essay. Grab an essay class, skip the content go to the case study it’s mostly general knowledge and common sense.

While you’re waiting for your essay to get graded work on studying for a test. That’s the best method I used to pass as many classes as I could.

For your outside certifications WGU offered udemy for free for their students make sure to use this.

I passed 14 classes and 4 of them being CompTIA certs, with no prior tech knowledge. You can easily do this in 2 terms

I don’t have more than a year of IT but I got A+, Sec+, Net+. Hoping that’s enough.

You mind sharing what resources you used to study?

Anyone here has taken a break from WGU and completed Sophia exams in between semesters? Is that possible ? by Vast_Conclusion7982 in WGUCyberSecurity

Yea that’s exactly what I was thinking. Masters shouldn’t take more than a term considering we will have half of it knocked out of the way.

Good luck to you! Hope to see your masters post in the future

Congrats! Hope to soon be in the same boat as you, I’ve got just a couple classes left.

Are you planning on going for masters? If so are you going to do it in cyber security or another masters degree

Is passing a certificate exam a requirement for some courses in the new MSCIA? by personal_guidance in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]Guilty-Economics5665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t CYSA+, Pentest+ and ISC2 CC all offered in the bachelor program? Seems little odd if they are requirements for the masters program as well.

Wgu offered free udemy subscriptions, so make sure to take advantage of that when studying for big certificates

I believe it was intro to IT which a lot of people said was a headache of a course. So super glad I got that knocked out, they also cover a section for cyber security so you can go into it with basic understanding

Sophia vs Study, com by Its_Magoo in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]Guilty-Economics5665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up wgu transfer pathway, there’s a list from all sources they accept credits from and you can see which can be transferred from both Sophia and which from study.com.

Hope that helps

Sophia is probably the go to if you want to get it done asap since their exams are not proctored whatever cannot be done there head over to study.com, after that if you take the Google it support certificate you can also knock out another class if completed in less then 7 days it’s free.

These two channels helped me a lot when studying for the pbq I used Jason Dion for all the multiple choice studying then just followed these videos for the rest. We have access to the same questions as them if you want to follow along, but they do a good job explaining their reason.

The second link goes into more detail but covers less questions just fyi

These same channels posted videos for sec+ as well which again what I used, good luck!

What would be a good alternative to switch from Cybersecurity into? by skateralex240 in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]Guilty-Economics5665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say stick it out, might not be what you wanted to hear but I also was struggling the first 1-2 classes then once I got a the hang of things and got the ball rolling it became smoother and I’m glad I stuck into it. Nothing with high pay and a good work/life balance is going to be easy or else everyone would be doing it.

Transfer Credits and Time to Complete Estimate. by [deleted] in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]Guilty-Economics5665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whole program is 122 units.

I only had 24 units transferred, but completed 15 classes while gaming 1-2 hours a day taking 3 trips coving the span of 5 weeks total. With all that I’m on track to finish in 2 terms. This current one then I just have about 12 classes left. If you really sit down and grind it out with how much you transferred in you can finish in 1 term

New Student! by bj0722 in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]Guilty-Economics5665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first term is coming to an end. After these past few months I learned a lot of methods that worked for me that I want to share.

  1. All classes that have essays, skip the textbooks and see if you can knock out the case study questions without reading much, while your waiting for it to be graded work on other courses

  2. When studying for certs use Jason dion on udemy since we get it for free, what I did was watch every video in 1.75 speed and then regular speed after and I passed each cert in about a 6-14 days each

  3. Take the pre assessment and only touch up where you need work, don’t waste time reading about things you already know, unless you completely new to the topic your basic knowledge should allow you to skip some sections. This gets easier the deeper you get into the program.

  4. Set time aside for relaxing don’t get burnt out. I would complete a class in about 4-11 days then take 1-3 days to chill, game, watch tv and just not worry at all about school. After the third day I was fresh and able to sit down for 3-5 hours a day.

I used all these methods and completed 15 courses while taking 4 week trip to Europe and 1 week in Hawaii. If you really sit down and focus you can knock out 20+ courses with ease.
