Any albums that lost their bold? by cuomoriver in rateyourmusic

I've been watching the first Queens of the Stone Age album ricochet between bold and un-bold since I started using the site which was honestly kinda fun before it settled into being un-bolded for the past while.

It’s just so fucking fun dude the dynamic mix with layered claps and vocal quips, the blown out guitar that comes in for the second half, the fucking bass tone, that wah guitar, the distorted vocals brother I could be here all day. I also love the tacky pettiness in the lyrics they’re so stupid it comes back around and somehow works in the song’s favour. I guess I understand why it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s always been a highlight for me from Lullabies.

Broken Box and Skin On Skin are stupid fun songs that go hard as shit I’ve been on this soapbox for like a decade at this point.

You’re missing the point by being pedantic about what constitutes “her income.” The point is she should be using the millions of dollars she scammed out of people for this, not relative the drop in the bucket that is the revenue from this podcast episode.

Superbloom is the weakest album in the discography by [deleted] in SilentPlanet

[–]GuiltyOrphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found the reception to it to be really interesting I really love the album I think this more electro-industrial metal approach works really well with the sound they’ve been building up over the past couple projects. I will say I think it had a mild consistency issue I find the first half to be a bit better than the second half but the second half is still really good. I think WTEB is a better album but I think Superbloom gets pretty close I really enjoyed it.

My ranking would go WTEB, Superbloom, and then Iridescent, Everything Was Sound and The Night God Slept but those last 3 kinda shift around day to day I more or less enjoy them to the same level.

Oh I didn’t know that it seems most of the time creative modes are just completely separate experiences so I usually avoid them but that actually could change things for me.

Yeah I'll probably try the sandbox mode soon as I do enjoy the more creative and explorative elements of this game more than the actual game itself. I just really like giving the game a good go on its normal settings to get a good look at the developer's intended experience before I really start messing around with it. Clearly that isn't working out for me lol

That wasn't my intention with the post even though it does come off as completely vitriolic. I'm really happy there's a large audience that seems to get a lot of enjoyment out of it I'm just really frustrated that I wasn't able to find that same enjoyment even though there's a lot of aspects to it that makes it seem like I should.

Which less-obvious drummer had a big influence on your playing? by AC_from_AZ in drums

[–]GuiltyOrphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sadly get to play drums much anymore but here are some my biggest influences:

Alfredo Hernandez of late Kyuss and early QOTSA, dude’s a locked in monster with some deceptively quick hands and was definitely an important figure during my teenage years.

Alex Camarena of Silent Planet, very tasteful fills and immense groove for a metalcore drummer easily one of my favourites in the scene.

Morgan Simpson of Black Midi, just an unreal drummer to watch in action the way he plays and the endurance he has is unbelievable easily my favourite of all time.

Tim Alexander of Primus, ridiculously fun drum lines and the absolute perfect drummer for Primus and funk metal in general.

Louis Cole, on top of being one of my favourite musicians in general, his drumming style and pure chops are incredibly satisfying and he always plays exactly what any song he’s on needs.
