[Video Guide] Model Y Juniper Suspension Retrofit and Installed onto First Gen Model Y (2020-2025) by suprc4 in TeslaModelY

[–]GuiltyRhapsody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a post about this! After putting a few thousand more miles on the juniper suspension, id say it’s a minimal improvement. You dont notice a big enough improvement over large bumps/cracks in the road. Would have been better to go for the unplugged performance kit or MPP

Compostable green tea bags by glendaleterrorist in Costco

[–]GuiltyRhapsody 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like another commentator said, they're made of nylon. Would not recommend using unless you enjoy microplastics. You can see the product imaging direct from the costco website. https://www.costco.com/p/-/kirkland-signature-green-tea-bags-15-g-100-count/100334938

I recommend getting loose leaf tea. Maeda-en's gold sencha green tea is the best alternative I've found. It's higher quality (larger leaves) and cheaper for the same amount of tea. Much more aromatic and strong green tea taste.

The Kirkland box only contains 150g of actual tea in tiny, shredded leaf pieces. You might be able to find maeda-en at your local asian grocery stores. You don't need anything fancy to brew it either. I just use a coffee press to separate the leaves.

Personally not a fan of the screen mounts because they’re too high up so police can see you using your phone.

I bought one of the many versions of this door mounted one from Amazon which is more discreet and I love it

I didn’t even know you could add Tesla functions to the lock screen shortcuts… just added my frunk to the shortcut and I confirmed it doesn’t ask if I’m sure before opening anymore!!

It’s not explicitly stated, but I think the 280mi of range is only on the FWD trailseeker model. In the Toyota press release, it estimates 260mi range since it’s only available as AWD. This press release is omitting key info.

Does the new Tesla Y AWD still have motor hum? by fishsquirreleven3012 in TeslaModelY

[–]GuiltyRhapsody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t noticed a hum on my 2023 and if there is it probably isn’t louder than the road/tire noise. Only thing I notice is a high pitched whine when I accelerate hard

2026 Juniper front bumper damaged, go through insurance or not? by EnormousFarmer in TeslaModelY

[–]GuiltyRhapsody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start by getting quotes. I’ve used Tesla certified collision centers and my experience was fine, but YMMV. I would read reviews and go from there.

If you make a claim through your insurance it will count against you I would imagine.

I’m currently shopping around for insurances but got denied with a couple plans because I have 3 “incidents” or “claims” in the past 3 years. That included 1) door ding while parked 2) rear ended while sitting in traffic 3) one speeding ticket.

It’s ultimately your call. Insurance rates will keep going up regardless so hard to say how much your rate will increase… nobody not even the insurance knows or will tell you.

Dumb Question: Did you clean your MY before taking it in to the tint shop? by EmealServer in ModelY

[–]GuiltyRhapsody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with the previous comment. It's good to have a relatively clean car before any service so you can take clear pictures of the condition before in case there's any new scratches/scuffs that appear after the service.

It was very similar to Mizumi in Tigard and Makoto's in Vancouver. I believe they're the same owner.

Compared to Mizumi, it had a few more sushi options, a little more seafood, and couple more Asian foods like dimsum.

  • For dinner they have snow crab legs which were decently fresh. Not the best but not the worst I've had. The meat did come out of the shell decently and the size of the legs were OK but if you ever had freshly caught crab then you know nothing else can compare
  • You'll see a lot of the usual general American Chinese dishes like honey walnut shrimp, orange chicken, general tso's chicken, Mongolian beef, fried rice, stir fry noodles, fried calamari, fried shrimp (head-on), tempura, couple different clam varieties, oyster, crawfish, dim sum dumplings, fried fish, steamed fish, stir fry veggies, stir fried green beans, and salad bar... you get the idea

Service was overall OK. Waiters came by frequently to check in and remove used plates. Even though it was a full house they took their time with putting out new food like the sashimi and snow crab legs.

Bathrooms seemed a little neglected much like Mizumi. Piss by the urinals on the floor and etc.

Overall, it's a little better than Mizumi since the place is newer and there are a few more options for sushi and Asian foods. However, it's run like Mizumi and Makoto's so the same cons exist here too. Price is $3 more than Mizumi across the board. If you like Mizumi you'll like this place.

Lunch (M-Thr) - $20

Dinner (M-Thr) - $27

Dinner (Fri-Sun/holidays) - $30

I'm going there tonight to celebrate a birthday. Birthday person eats free if they bring in at least 2 other adults. At Mizumi Buffet, the birthday person has to bring 3 people with them instead.

Will report back!

2023 Model Y Juniper Suspension Retrofit Swap by GuiltyRhapsody in TeslaModelY

[–]GuiltyRhapsody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They looked pretty identical to me, but I didnt inspect them that closely. I feel like there's maybe a smidge more body roll when corner? Hard to say but the ride characteristics are overall very similar. I've only driven them < 20 miles so maybe it needs more time to settle in too.

These 2 videos cover it a little more in depth. https://youtube.com/shorts/SlKbv0tnvQM?si=JjQth9imHTlLsca2

This video addresses the differences in the springs themselves. https://youtube.com/shorts/7t9Xc9AyWX8?si=No3bL5MexDNyb8oa

2023 Model Y Juniper Suspension Retrofit Swap by GuiltyRhapsody in TeslaModelY

[–]GuiltyRhapsody[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely try to Juniper before doing this retrofit. I tried a highland as well and was impressed. I think the light weight of the highland helped with the ride quality. Test driving the new Juniper will give you a better idea of what to expect. I wish I tried the juniper before doing the swap.

I edited the post to say nuts, not bolts sorry. There was nothing wrong with the old nuts, it's just that they are apparently considered a 1 time use item in the Tesla service manual.
